The Palmach Museum is reasonably large and has a wonderful tour. I came early and had an opportunity to speak with the IDF lady behind the reception desk; she was most informative. This museum really educated me about the fight to found Israel. Of all the museums I"ve been to here, so far, this one is the best.

Interesting 45 minute guided tour. Important part of modern Israeli history. Interactive displays would be much more fun. This museum could make use of the latest technology/ interactive displays to enhance the visit.

I went here when it was relatively new in 2009 and loved it. The live animation kept you riveted, and I was looking forward to returning with my family. I thought it would be a good substitute for Independence Hall to get some history of the founding of Israel. The live animation has since been replaced with movie screens in each room, while the characters remains behind a screen. I would not recommend wasting your time here - there are far better museums. We were exploring beautiful campus of the Tel Aviv University, which is very close to Palmach Museum, so we decided to stop by and change our reservation for the same time a day earlier. It worked! Reservations are required and you cannot visit the museum without a tour guide.

Our tour was very interesting. We had read many fascinating books about Hagana and its elite unit, Palmach, but it is in the museum where the history of Palmach heroes comes to life. The documentary is fascinating and all the personal stories are so poignant and meaningful… the stories of heroism, self-sacrifice and survival of the young fighters whom the State of Israel owes her existence.

We booked our tour for 9:00. We arrived a few minutes late but it didn’t matter as the tour started around 9:15 and lasted until 10:30. The tour is very well done with audio guides for non-Hebrew speakers. They do a great job of explaining the history of the fight for independence and the role of the Palmach group.

Highly recommended.

This is not a traditional museum. Rather, it is a 12-room guided tour with film and panoramas that describe a particular group of volunteers in the Palmach during 1938-1948 period.

This museum uses a series of films to tell the story of the first soldiers in what would become the country of Israel. It was personalized so that you felt as if you were part of the world these brave men and women were living in. Unfortunately, the audio guide does not completely translate the script, so an English speaking visitor is unable to fully appreciate the experience.
