Visited the Tel Aviv Museum of Art recently with her husband and were satisfied. Already at the entrance you begin to notice how interesting the buildings of the museum complex are, whereas inside we were met by a very talkative Russian-speaking lady and explained that the staircase, which is located opposite the entrance is made in the style hated by Hitler Bauhaus, (in the same style are made some buildings in Tel Aviv).
Although some of the exhibition halls were closed for restoration, we still spent 3-4 hours usefully running around the two adjacent buildings and seeing an exhibition of miniatures made simply in jewelry, Renaissance paintings : some are from very famous schools, and there are those owned by a Jewish artist, telling the story of life inside and outside Judaism. We saw a carved bronze door in the style of the 16th century, an exhibition devoted to the animal world where you could sit down and paint yourself, a blooming sculpture garden, Impressionist paintings (unfortunately the main hall with the Impressionists was closed) , contemporary art, art objects, the impressive Waterfall installation, and more.
However, we did not have the strength to visit the building, which is separate - near the Gabima Theatre, and we were able to come and visit this building another day, still on the same tickets. There was an exhibition on the theme of nature.
I understand that the museum has permanent exhibits along with changing ones. In general liked the non-trivial placement of objects in space, and also, I advise to walk around the nearby area and admire the unusual structures.

I spent a day at this fantastic art gallery. The collections are well thought through and the building flows really well. Staff were extremely welcoming to a foreign visitor and provided lots of advice. The cafe is excellent. The gallery has some very surprising and fascinating paintings, especially from Chagall.

We spent nearly 3 hours at this museum which features a great collection of impressionist and post impressionist painters.
We were quite amazed by the number and quality of the paintings : Monet, Renoir, Pissaro, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Degas, Picasso...
The permanent collection of Israeli moden art is also quite interesting, along with the architecture of the museum and the temporary exhibitions.
There is also a cafe, with a great garden where you can have your snack , salad or pizza basking in the sun in spring or summer.

Includes many works from well-known artists like Picasso, Monet, Pollock as well as local Israeli artists, all housed in a beautiful, modern building. The audio guide was included in the entrance price but only the English explanations were only available for a relatively small number of works. Worth going to if you are in the area!

We visited the museum and were so impressed with the diverse and substantial collections on display...ranging from street art to Monet, Renoir, Matisse, Picasso. Clean, friendly and easy access to family and those with disabilities

A deep plunge in the art of TEL AVIV Museum of Art: the section dedicated to impressionists and post-impressionism is stunning. The monographic exhibition of the red wax man, a discovery. Also the building itself is full of symbols and reminders to the hystory of the Country. Recommemded

A great collection of modern and post modern “classics”: Picasso, Monet, Leger and others. Combined with neo modern architecture and visual arts by Israelian present masters. A single impression of David Polansky exhibition

The building of the museum is probably the most interesting thing about it. Especially, it’s architecture inside.
The entrance though is somewhat concealed and not obvious (there are two entrances, one of them is the main entrance).
The expositions, despite being creative, are a bit small and sometimes are hard to understand (what is the main point/message behind it).
Also, I expected to see bigger collections of artwork.
The halls are big and allow people to walk around freely.
Staff is not very friendly. Luckily, the interaction with them only on the ticket counter, at the garderobe (you must leave your bags in a storage) and at the ticket check point.
The museum’s shop has a wide range of products and some very attractive works. However, prices are very high.

Went with the wife on a rainy December day and spent a worthwhile 2 hours for so going round. The buildings itself is an interesting concrete structure. There are quite large corridors to traverse between some of the actual exhibition spaces. Mixture of Israeli art in some spaces and more international in others. Suprised by the extent of the European collections of Monet, Picasso, Matisse, Leger and others including a Klimt (noting that many of these donated/lent). There were also some very good notes with some of the paintings. If every day was sunny and warm in summer not sure would want to have spent the time here but on a rather wet December day it was a good way to pass a morning - and then not that far to the covered Sarona Food Market....

My wife and I had a delightful Saturday afternoon at the museum . We were surprised by the quality and the quantity of the European paintings , mostly modern. The special exhibits were great . The building is huge and modern. We were not at all crowded as one is in the US or European museums.

Written 24 October 2019

Written 16 November 2016
