The Orthodox Church of Saint Mary Magdalena is only opened to visitors on Tuesday and Thursday from 10-12 unless you have made prior arrangements. If the door is closed and you are here during these hours ring the buzzer to the left. The church grounds are pretty and there is a nice view. There is a sign that reads no... More

The church of the holy Mary Magdalena is on the lower slopes of the Mount of Olives, you can see it in the distance of you look in the Eastern direction from the Temple Mount. We took a taxi to the top of the Mount of Olives and walked down. We could join a bus tour group of Orthodox Christians... More

We made a special pilgrimage to the church which is only open for a few hours each week so you'll need to plan ahead! The church is absolutely magnificant with brightly shining golden domes beneath a deep blue sky. The interior is full of wonderful Russian Icons and you can purchase candles if you wish to pray! At the ground... More

I was with a group of Russian friends when we visited so, although I am not Russian orthodox, we were able to visit (note: it is open to others only Tuesday and Thursday mornings) The Church of Mary Magdalene, which we could see while atop the Mount of Olives, was built by Tsar Alexander III in the traditional Russian style... From the Old City it’s a beautiful sight. Getting there wasn’t so easy. They could use some better signage. When we finally got there we walked inside to find that it’s essentially a beautiful foyer. It would have been better if we just settled for seeing it from afar.

This Church is open to non-Orthodox visitors on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10:00-12:00. As you enter the grounds of the church you wander through lush and serene gardens. We were keen to see the tomb of Princess Alice, mother in law of Queen Elizabeth but was unavailable. Instead we saw the tombs of 2 saints, Elizabeth and Barbara. We were... More

This is a wonderful church in Russian architecture dedicated to Mary Magdalene. It's only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 12 pm. The domes are a sight to behold. The interiors are done beautifully. It's very peaceful in there.

From anywhere in Jerusalem you see the beautiful Golden Domes and wonder what is inside there. As you walk down the Mt. Olivet you see the large stone wall with only a steal door with a lock. On our pilgrimage, our Eastern Orthodox Melkite Greek Father was able to talk the young nun into letting us visit for a short... More
