Difficult but so Important to Experience
We visited here during our stay in Jerusalem and wish we had time to stay longer or to go back. There is so much to take in when you visit the museum. Many of the displays are also difficult to see as you realize the horror of the Holocaust. That said, I think it is important for everyone to understand what happened during this horrible time.

A Visit to Yad Vashem is Life Altering
It is not possible to visit Yad Vashem, and be moved to the core of your soul, and walk away a changed human being. A beautiful, deeply harrowing museum & monument to all who were lost in the Holocaust. Beyond words. Be prepared to stay, and read, and learn, and experience for many hours. I started to cry just walking in the doors. Never never never again, for any people.

    Not to be missed
Such a well set up museum, very humblinv and informative. We arrived at opening and only had 2 hours to look around. Easily could have spent another hour or two there as we didn't get time to look through the special exhibit or the gardens.

    Beautiful Place of Commemoration
Words cannot explain the sheer incredibleness of this place. Yad Vashem have created a very powerful, moving and influential memorial for the victims and survivors of the Holocaust. They have approached this with such delicacy and have given those who did not survive back their identities. A must see if you are in Jerusalem. Give yourself time to go through all of the memorials.

    Thought provoking
This remembrance is incredibly well designed and thought out. Booking in advance was easy to do. The staff at the information desk were very friendly and helpful. It is a very busy museum and we were jostled a bit by large groups of school children who seemed to lack any spacial awareness but we were able to look at and watch the exhibits nonetheless. Its not an experience that makes you feel uplifted but rather sombre, sad and sickened. I leraned a lot and will have some images in my mind for a very long time and in a way that is a good thing. I felt very emotional throughout my visit. We spent 3 hours there and that covered most exhibits. There is a good restaurant, toilets are very clean.

    A must visit in Jerusalem
We did a self-tour, starting with a visit to a excellent photography exhibition in their exhibition hall and then to the serene Hall of Remembrance and after that to see the stirring cattle car memorial cantilevered off the side of the hill. After that we walked through the whole Museum and you should factor in 2 hours to truly appreciate the video footage and take in the human accounts of this tragic time. It is an amazing memorial and will leave many fighting back tears. Tip: Do book a visit slot on the website before you go.

Excellent museum but try to avoid the crowds
Museum is compelling for sure. There's also a bunch more to see on the site, which is quite beautiful. Part of the problem is there's SO MUCH it really would take several visits to take it all in. Another issue is the crowds. I thought noon on a week day would be a good time.. Apparently I didn't account for the school groups that dominated the space. The building itself, despite its size, is not that spacious. It was tough navigating the groups through the various exhibits. I would definitely go back, but the crowds were a problem.

A MUST - give yourself the WHOLE day.
Most people do not give themselves a full complete day here. This is a “holy” place (much more than a museum) that should not be rushed in an hour or two. It is one of the best museums in the world. Make sure you visit the various places on the campus. Take a break and have a meal. Take a break earlier for coffee. You will long remember your visit here.

    Excellent, but wildly busy
There is not much more to say about Yad Vashem’s content that has not already been said, but it should be noted that the layout of the long gallery does not favour crowds. A visitor not understanding the extent of the vast collection contained in the nine galleries of the Holocaust History Museum may spend a significant amount of time in the first gallery or two attempting to learn how the narrative evolves (school groups, for example want to set the stage here). What this leads to is significant, and occasionally frustrating, congestion at the outset of one’s visit. Be patient, though, as the crowd will thin out in subsequent galleries. Yad Vashem is not to be rushed, so plan to spend a full day here. Some practical considerations: your visit MUST be pre-booked, there are two cafeterias onsite (one at the visitor centre, the other in the Square of Hope after the long gallery), toilets are located at the midpoint of the long gallery, and there are many trails and outdoor exhibits surrounding the museum.

    An essential museum
This is a very serious, sober museum that rally captures a vital part of history. The historical artifacts excellent. I was especially impressed by seeing Schindler’s list on display. The chronology tour is very good at presenting both the macro events and personalizing the events by micro views from the experiences of the victims. The museum also has a fine store with books in many languages.

Definitely you have to visit once Yad Vashem to understand the horror of WW2. It makes you deeply sad and highly angry about the ignorance of some people. Specially for some German Idiots it should be mandatory (I myself am German).

Yad Vashem is a memorial to those Jews who perished in the Holocaust and those who resisted the Nazi regime. It also commemorates the Righteous Among the Gentiles, those non-Jews who risked their lives to save their neighbors. Yad Vashem is a humbling experience. Only the Western Wall has more visitors. Yad Vashem should not be missed. Entry is free.

Free tickets to enter but you have to book in advance (the night before was fine). You pay for car parking. Excellent exhibition, in chronological order, especially the videos of holocaust survivors talking about their experiences. So much to read you could spend all day here but we spent 2 hours. Our teenagers also found it interesting and it’s so important for everyone to understand what happened as it helps you understand the whole background to the current nation of Israel. Nice museum shop and amazingly landscaped gardens, sculptures and architecture.

This is a superb museum of Holocaust material and exhibitions. My wife and I spent 6 hours reading and viewing the material. We could have stayed for 2 full days.
The video presentations were excellent.
We also viewed the art museum but did not have enough time to complete it.
We will definitely return.

This museum was incredibly packed while I visited and there was so much to take in. Every exhibit is so thoughtfully presented. The children's memorial is especially overwhelming and emotionally triggering. I would recommend this museum to anyone.

Designed by architect Moshe Safdie
The Holocaust (1933–1945) was the systematic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million European Jews by the Nazi German regime and its allies. This museum manages to make clear and precise what anti-Semitic hatred was.

Not a place that you can rate but such a phenomenally and thoughtfully set out historical documentation of a time that is so hard to imagine….yet this museum does its best to inform, preserve and respect. You leave with a greater understanding, visually, auditory and emotionally of a variety of experiences of many different people of all faiths, sexual preferences, countries, social classes, ages etc.The curators have not changed history or been biased, but preserved and presented it in a thought provoking and moving way with transcripts, videos, belongings, diaries, films, books, quotes. Be prepared to be moved, take a hanky.

We just did a self tour, they would let little kids under 10 in due to the nature of the place which is understandable. Interesting and informative exhibits with a lot of artifacts.

What can you really say about Yad Vashem? It's incredible, powerful, shocking, terrible, and a completely unique place to go. It was the #1 place I wanted to see in my ten days in Jerusalem, as an educator and a Jewish person well aware already of the history. I wasn't prepared for the enormity of the grounds. I suppose I can say that. Also, the tour guides were loud and made it hard to hear my own audio guide, it was crowded, with giant tour busses totally filling up the museum, so go early, as early as possible if the visit is important to you, as it was for me.

Honestly, I would recommend going more than once.

I also suggest walking the entire grounds outside. I walked around but it wasn't all that well sign-posted, and it was 2pm in summer and quite hot, so I eventually gave up walking after about an hour, seeing just the Warsaw monument and a few other sculptures but not making it to the Valley of the Communities. But I recommend one day, early in the morning, for the museum itself, followed by a visit to the bookstore (NOT the bookstore by the entrance but the independent, smaller bookstore with the fabulously sincere and helpful owner downstairs). I didn't buy anything much in Israel to bring home except books from Yad Vashem of various testimonies from survivors. And then a second day solely for the grounds, also in the morning if it's summer. That is free. Maybe a third day even to go back through again. It's a place with incredible depth. I spent four or five hours there and felt rushed.

I would actually see if I could stay on Mt. Herzl for a few days next time I visit. It's a completely unique place.
