The Garden of Gethsemane does not disappoint. It remains unspoiled, and an oasis in the city of Jerusalem. The ancient olive trees are a wonderful link to the story of the Messiah's agony here.

The gardens have the some of the oldest known olive trees together in a garden to themselves. It is worth the visit just to see the olive trees.

The olive trees are clearly ancient and would provide a pleasant sight but they are now dominated by tourists entering and leaving the nearby Basilica of Gethsemane. Worthwhile if visiting the Church.

At one time one of the Olive trees in the Garden, was considered to be as old as the times of Jesus. Later, carbon dating showed that it was less than 1000 yrs old. So it did not belong to the time of Jesus. The exact spot... More

It is religious site. No charge for entry. Only some postcard sellers outside. Like all churches there will be a donation box if you wish to leave something.
