The Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem is the only museum in the world dedicated to the history of the Ancient Near East from a biblical perspective. The core exhibition displays an extraordinary collection of ancient art and archaeology tracing the roots of monotheism from the dawn of civilization to early Christianity. The treasures on display represent the physical evidence of civilization and events described in the Bible. Traditions, rituals, religions, and cultures are revealed through ancient ivories, mosaics, jewelry, seals, terra cotta and stone sculptures. The magnificent cultures of ancient Egypt, Sumer, Assyria and Babylon come to life before you.The exhibits feature the Assyrian ivories from Nimrud (circa 800 B.C.), sarcophagus of Julia Latronilla dated from the 4th century and an impressive collection of cylinder seals and scarabs.

In the Valley of David and Goliath is a fascinating exhibition. It will take you back to King David's days. You'll understand the life in the city that was found in Haela valley.

We had never been to the Bible Lands Museum. This museum is amazing, due to the vast collection (from a private collection). The museum is across from the Israel Museum, is quiet, well laid-out and has good documentation. Worth a visit.

Our group spent several hours and it was not enough to absorb the depth of Biblical history. It is a great addition to the museum opportunities in Jerusalem. We had an additional treat of receiving a lecture that evening on the Tanach. Wonderful time.

Sorry but I do not know which bus to take. I've always gone on Shabbat and walked it from close to Hapalmach. It is about a 30 minute walk on a slight uphill incline after you get tot he Valley of the Cross.
