About
The Hay-Bar on the Carmel is devoted to the raising of endangered and extinct animals of the region and possible re-introduction to the wild. The park maintains breeding cells of Persian fallow deer (Dama dama mesopotamica), roe deer (capreolus capreolus), as well as various types of vultures and other raptors, which are also part of the re-introduction and re-acclimatization program.

This lush, sprawling park is a hidden gem of Haifa. It's the biggest national park in the country and yet seems to be overlooked by tourists, which is a shame. There are kilometers of hiking and biking trails, plus archaeological sites and hectares of different tree species. You can also go picnicking here, which I encourage people to do for the sheer joy of enjoying a meal in this gorgeous park. There are also different protected animal species that reside here. You can forget that the rest of the country extends into the desert because this place is so green.

Ideal for a break from the stress from work.
Ideal for the lucky ones who live in Haifa or in this part of Israel.

But in SUMMER make sure to take enough water (1-2 liters/pax), your hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
And of course to plan for how long you wish to walk.

Very easy to get dehydrated.

MY EXPERIENCE
I hiked in “Little Switzerland” with a large group of Israeli religious high school girls: it was not the quiet pleasant experience of my hopes (to say the least). The scenery was nice, though (see my few photos).

I started off at Little Switzerland car park. I took the red trail to the bridge then the blue trail up the wadi to the end. I walked back down the wadi to the bridge then took the green trail back to the car park. Nice relaxing, great views. Stopped in the wadi and had some lunch. It’s was nice to sit and listen to the bird sounds. Very enjoyable.
The only disappointing part, there was a group of school children walking down wadi, they were throwing their rubbish on the ground, I pointed this out to the adults and they did not care. It’s a shame we’re disrespectful to the environment. Collect some of the rubbish and put it in the bin.

Our 3 bus loads of Christians on a tour of the Holy Land came here to see the site where Elijah’s God destroyed the Baal worshippers. We used a beautiful garden area for a teaching of this scripture. If I remember correctly, this mountain top provided a great view of the Valley of Armageddon. Awesome. Top it off with seeing a couple of Israeli fighters flying thru the valley. Bible history & prophecy coming to life before our very eyes.

Get out and enjoy the scenery here or go for a hike. Plenty of places to get some fresh air and stretch the left.

Cone to this area 5 km from Haifa on winter or spring time. Otherwise it is dry and hot.
You can see many tipical plants, trees as well as eagles, boars . jackals and rabbits. The view is amazing and yet it is so close to the city.
