If you know your bible then it's something you might want to add to your itinerary. I love the story of Elijah's life but not to the point where it's a scared place to pray. I was more curious than anything else but no wow from me.

Visiting the Cave was part of a two hour tour that included seeing the Baha'i Shrine and Gardens. The Cave is nearby and doesn't take long to visit but is interesting. It is one of Israel's holiest sites. Need to dress modestly!

You feel the energy as soon as you enter, sacred place indeed! No long ques, no commercialization, just an epic religious place. A sanctuary if you like, full of devotees praying that in-itself was epic,

This a religious prayer site similar to the Western Wall. It is difficult to find. You have to climb up by the school where you see the sign with an arrow from the street. You can purchase a tea light candle to light and make a prayer.

Being a holy site to so many religions, we expected a well-maintained spot. While the location and view are spectacular (Elijah sure had good taste), what greeted us after a short climb (31C) was a large table loaded with food, 10-12 people milling about, eating, running around, making noise; they must have thought the entrance to the cave was a... By dumb luck, we happened to arrive at the same time as a small group of young soldiers, who invited us to pray with them. Be advised that there are two separate sections for men and women. The men in our group were told to wear head covers (which were provided), and the women were told to wear head scarfs.... More

Considering the significance of the Cave of Elijah to Jews, Christians and Muslims, and the many visitors that come here, it is a perhaps a pity that the Cave does not have any information for visitors. It would be helpful if a guide was there to tell visitors something about the cave, and how to behave inside the cave. When... More

It is a simple cave but filled with rich history. The cave and place where Elijah had a showdown against Baal worshippers on who is the true living God. Just be sure to say Prophet Elijah's Cave when you hail a cab.

Elijah's cave is below the monastery and down the hill a bit. There are signs but you need a good map or gps to navigate the street to find, park, and then walk up to (via sidewalks and stairs) accordingly. I was disappointed that such a holy and special site (lots of basis for Elijah being here) would be in... More
