We only had a day and a half in Eliat and wanted to go to the best snorkelling spots. All the review on Trip Advisor and other websites were quite dated so we weren’t sure what to expect. On our half day which was first we went to Migdalor Beach which we loved (you can read our review) as based on the write ups we thought we should spend more time at Coral Beach Nature Reserve. But that was a mistake. First thing to note we were there in September and it was quite windy and there was a strong current. So if you are snorkelling with children then Coral Beach Nature Reserve is probably a good choice as there are ropes everywhere preventing you from going near the coral and you can hold onto them so you can pull yourself back against the current if you need to.
You won’t see a lot of fish or much coral as there are too many people and all the coral is roped off but there are some roped off shallow areas which smaller children will like. In theory there are two jettys which you can use to begin your snorkel from but one appears to be permanently broken. Which means you have to swim back against the current.
If you are a keen snorkeller don’t use the jetty it’s overcrowded with people with kids and you won’t see anything. Instead turn right at the entrance and go to the very end of the beach. There is an entry from the beach and far fewer people use it so it’s much more peaceful. There isn’t much coral to see most of the reef is roped off so you are just swimming along the side. There weren’t many fish compared to Migalador beach. So for the entrance fee I wouldn’t recommend this beach unless you have never seen coral before. On the plus side there was plenty of shade and free chairs.
You can’t pay cash to go on the local buses which is annoying. A taxi from the Eliat museum cost us 40 shekels and it was easy to flag one down on the way back.

The clised nature reserve is not the best reef to visit, but the only one you have to pay to get in. And it is not set as very welcoming, especially considering the entry fee.
You may want to consider the beaches further south, such as the caves, or even north of the southern piers of the old princess hotel.
And, if you are a strong swimmer, snorkeler,. You can swim from the north of the reserve all along the coral reef, and back.this way you avoid high entry fee and enjoy better service on the beach

The snorkeling was not bad but I’ve seen much better. The area to swim was restricted but still long enough to see a fair amount of fish. It was better earlier before too many people arrived.
The staff we dealt with was rude, very unpleasant in answering basic questions, maybe she was having bad day. Of the 3 staff we interacted with, only one was pleasant. High cost to rent snorkel equipment.
If I returned to area, I would look for other options, at least check out diving store across street for rentals. Their staff need training on proper customer service.

I am a keen snorkeler, and had looked forward to visiting Eilat for a long time, having been south of the border in various Egyptian resorts many times. I have also snorkeled/scuba dived in lots of places around the world, but none can better the Red Sea for an easy, close to shore experience. So it was an enormous disappointment when I paid to get into Coral Beach, only to find that the reef was actually cordoned off with a string of floating buoys, so you had to swim maybe 5 - 10 meters away from it. I didn't even bother getting in the water! To be fair, somebody who hasn't snorkeled before might have loved it because they didn't know any better, but I would recommend Taba Heights, Sharm El Sheik and Hurghada for a much better dip in the Red Sea.

I visited in July 2020 and you need to be aware that half of the snorkelling trail is cordoned off as a bridge out to the coral reef is broken. There is extremely limited snorkelling and access to the impressive Moses Rock is not practical. Due to COVID, you also need to book in advance on the National Park website.
It is still a great place with great facilities.

Last visit showed us a disappointment from facility.
This site has 2 traps to access snorkeling area and start water trip.
However about 4 years ago 1 of the 2 traps damaged by storm and since then the site management not invests nothing to repair it.
What is big issue when you expect to enjoy full facility, but 50% of it now allowed.
Untill this won't be repaired, i'll think twice before Be aware! bringing my family here again

Charges ILS35 for entry or free if you have valid Israel Pass. Changing facilities with a few shower. It has a very wide area of sizeable coral heads but it was basically not allowed to snorkel over them. Still can enjoy sighting of many corals and fishes. The entry/exit platform was very nice.

After the overcrowded & bustling dolphine reef this beach felt much more calm and relaxed. The beach is huge and it never gets packed in the same way as the other beaches. Facilities were ok and the staff was nice. Kiosk only served French fries and stuff. The snorkelling was ok but only that. Plenty of more fish at both princess beach and dolphine reef.

Never had the chance to snorkel close to corals and this place offered great opportunity to do just that. A vast beach with lots of restrictions in where to swim. Then again it's a nature reserve and you should respect it. Few shops also around where you can but some refreshments. Remember to take a stamp if you go outside the area so you can re-enter later!

A beautiful beach with lots of shade
Very quiet, feels like a private beach
Helpful and pleasant staff
There is everything you need - food, drink, floats for children, snorkels and binoculars for rent, chairs and dining tables
I deducted a point because the shade is far from the sea so most of the time we sat in the sun, it would have been possible to add some umbrellas a little closer to the water. In addition, the entrance area to the sea through the beach (and not from the pier) is small

hi, i need some information. We are two close friends for the Red Sea and we would like to snorkel. the problem is that we have no experience in this regard. can we still do it? Is it close to the city of Eilat? if yes, how much does it cost? Thanks for your attention.

Can I pay the entrance fee by credit card?

Do you need a reservation either to get into the facility or to go snorkeling or to rent equipment? I was planning to go during Sukkot, which I think might be a busy time of year
Written 24 September 2019
You don’t need reservation, snorkeling equipment can be rented in the reserve or in various dive schools around
Just be prepared for some crowd as Sukot is the last vacation before winter
Enjoy

What are your thoughts about a 9 1/2 year old who can swim reasonably well for her age but who does not have any experience snorkeling in the past.would one expect her to snorkel well enough to appreciate the corals that are present?
Written 24 September 2019
When we were there recently a few younger children were snorkeling and having a marvellous time. I would definitely recommend it and it's very safe for children.

Hi! Do they have lockers where you can safely put and close your things while snorkeling? What is the price?
היי. האם יש על החוף לוקרים איפה אפשר לשמור חפצים אישיים בזמן שנורקלינג? אם יש מה עלות?
Written 20 September 2019
There are lockers. This should be asked at the box office and paid separately. The cost of 30 shekels.

We are planning to visit in a couple of weeks time when we are on a cruise ship. However, on that particular day I will need to be in regular contact with family back home. Can you please advise whether there is anyway close by with WiFi. Thank you
Written 7 October 2018
I can’t remember if there is wifi there but there is private beach restaurant 500 meters next to it and they have it . But it was 2 years ago so things might have changed by now . Enjoy your trip .

I would like to know if snorkeling/diving FINS can also be rented.
Also, they mention "floating device". Is this a BC/jacket type device or not ? (We have a non-swimmer among us - I know there are ropes, but this person would feel more comfortable wearing a life-jacket type floating device).

Hi Melanie, you can rent these. If you stay at the coral beach resort you get it for free.
