With so much reputed history, it is hard not to be amazed by this place. With separate places where Jesus is said to have been born and where the manger stood, it is iconic. Being a sacred site to several faiths, there are three churches around the room of the nativity, and they take turns to access it. The nativity... More

Like most major Christian sites in Israel this is undergoing renovations, but probably has been since it's inception. Interesting to see the site of so much history and recent tension in Palestine.

We valued the opportunity to tour this sacred site, even though construction hid some if its splendor.

As this is where Jesus was born it was indeed a privilege to be able to take touch the star where His manger was.

While interesting to visit the spot of the manger and where Jesus was born, there's not actually much to see and the lines are crazy long (can take hours), Combined with needing to take a special trip to Bethlehem you may not want to visit if short on time

Although some of the paintings are hidden due to renovation works, it`s worth visiting. I plan to go there again, especially since i understood they will be finishing the renovation sometime close to Easter. The mosaics are really wonderful. Try to go there in the morning to avoid staying in line for too long.

800 people waiting in a confined space for 2 hours are going to start talking to each other. Our tour group was jammed into a hallway with MANY other groups. No place to sit, and one of our group was an 83 year old woman with heart problems. It was so hot. It was so crowded and no one knew... More

I am sorry to report that after standing in line for over an hour, during which time there was far too much jostling by some people behind us, the few seconds we took to look at/touch the star supposedly marking the place of Jesus' birth didn't feel worth the wait. Maybe we were spoilt by the Church of the Holy... More

The reason you’d surely go to Bethlehem. This is a lovely church but sadly it seems to be permanently under restauration what hide some of the treasures it keeps inside. You’d better go very early in the morning or will stay in the row to the grotto too much time. In the sixth column to the right you’ll see some... More
