Sultanahmet Sqaure, also known as Hippodrome is the most famous tourist area in Istanbul on the Historical Peninsula. It is a must see region in Istanbul. Sultanahmet is the district where all tourists head for on their visits to Istanbul.

I often stopped by this square as it is central to all the attractions. When you want a rest, there are plenty of benches and the gardens and fountain are kept clean.

I was lucky enough to visit Istanbul during Ramadan which meant that in an evening this area was filled with families eating picnics - it was just magical.

We were there for Ramadan, so things were a bit crowded and confusing. But, we enjoyed the walking and the sites. Always bring water with you as this may be difficult to find at times.

it is a magnificent square that hides two of the biggest and most beautiful ornaments of the city, Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Every day many thousands of tourists or natives have many small souvenirs and buns. also has a huge mattress.

overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a
prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly
epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the
Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this
relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to

Yes it's safe to go, and you'll love the colourful fountain: make sure you take lots of photos of the mosques with the fountain in the middle, they'll look great! It gets very quiet at night so makes for a beautiful walk.
