Soğukçeşme Sokağı in Sultanahmet leads downhill from Topkapı Palace to Gülhane Park. The street is interesting but not original. The Ottoman wooden houses were renovated and now look quite modern. The front door miniature "gardens" are also planted with fragrant shrubs.

The ambition was to recreate the Ottoman wooden houses' atmosphere. They were beyond repair, but the "copies" are not convincing. One even wonders if they are occupied - no lights in the windows. The area is very nice though to to stroll through especially after...More

Old cobbled street with new brightly coloured houses in the old design. Istanbul has more to see but this is a handy cut through from Topkapi palace. Thanks for the vote if you found this review helpful.

Little houses next to the palace. Artists used to come paint these, and the prime minister was born on this street. A nice walk.

I don't agree with the name Souk. This is a cobble stone street that leaves Topkapi Palace and goes down to Gulhane Park. It has a very old restaurant on it and they have built new housing to replace the original housing against the palace...More

The street is behind the Hagia Sophia Museum. Facing the Topkapi Palace entrance gates turn left and walk down the street. It is a quiet street and gives you a feeling of old Istanbul and the wealthy people who lived here. One of the houses...More
