Shisha can be smoked anywhere in instabul, at a bar even in taksim, but ... if you are looking for the oldest, more qualified place to sit and enjoy shisha and tea, this is the place to go, not just for the biggest shisha youll see, but the atmosphere and the real turkish environment you can get to experience.

This is one of the oldest places in Istanbul serving Shisha or Hookah. It is located in one of the narrow, old streets to the left of where the grand bazaar is. Highly recommended. Feels very authentic.

In spite of feeling a little awkward as females, we still wanted to walk through it and see all the men smoking and drinking. There are a few shops as you enter the courtyard, and a bathroom in the rear. It wasn't extremely smoky when we walked through, but it was dark and cold, and not very inviting. Still... fun... More

Been here so many times. Given that it's packed with locals, this is the place to go for a pipe and chai. Flavours are somewhat limited but the quality is good. Service can be slow but it's the way to pass the time. Far better than the overpriced cafes in Tophane. Nothing better than smoking in an old madrese

We went there after we checked reviews on Trip advisor but we were so disappointed from the moment we enter the main door! We wanted to sit outside as the atmosphere inside was terrible since more than 40 people were smoking chicha (water pipe)..the waiter insisted we should sit inside because outside is "for families"..i took a glance outside and... I was brought here by a local and went back many times. Even if you don't smoke, you can enjoy a tea, people watch and enjoy this historical building.

This place is overrun with locals smoking their nargiles. It is definitely a place locals go to despite that tourists have discovered it. You will probably feel uncomfortable here as a tourist but just keep on. Having been to a couple really great nargile places in Istanbul, this place stood out for how crowded it was and the lesser quality... More

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
