We had the privilege of this being our second visit to the blessed Sahabe of Istanbul. The blessings received are priceless. I would totally recommend anyone visiting this beautiful city not to leave without doing ziyaret of the blessed Sahabe. This company is thoroughly professional & it is commendable that they are keeping alive the history of the blessed Sahabe... More

We spent between 10am and 4pm visiting the tombs of Sahabas. It was a remarkable opportunity and with guidance from Dervish Erol it was a visit to remember. Dervish Erol has conducted these tours for many many years and know the history behind each Sahaba at his finger tips. Turkey has done a magnificent job in keeping the tombs /... More

I felt so honored to be part of a real Whirling Ceremony. This is NOT a show, this is a first hand experience where you have the opportunity to see how real people from the community get together to pray. I was welcome as part of their own. Very touching and of course the whirling ceremony part 100% authentic and... More

Both days were amazing experiences. First up the sahaba tour, we had Hakan and the knowledgeable dervish as guides. Throughout the day we were able to visit respectfully the graves of the companions of prophet Muhammad all around Istanbul listening into the stories of how they arrived and what took place on the expeditions. Interesting to see the different locations... More

I had seen the dervish at a dinner show a few months back and it was cool but this - was incredibly authentic. We were given background and history of the dervish and were escorted to a monastery by a former dervish himself. We got to witness a prayer ceremony before the dancers began - overall very powerful and memorable.... More

Istanbul Life did a great job organizing my personal itinerary 9 day tour in Turkey. I saw many of the highlights of Istanbul (Bosphorus Tour and Classic Tour and a free day for shopping at the Grand Bazaar), Ephesus, Pamukkale and Cappadocia (North and South Tours). All transfers, flights and hotels were confirmed in advance and I was always taken... More

A city steeped in centuries of history, Istanbul/Constantinople is the crossroads of Europe and Asia and the many cultures it represents. Anyone who is researching for a tour of Istanbul's many treasured sites already knows what there is to see. What is needed is a knowledgeable tour guide who can impart an understanding of each and our guide, Mrs. Tulay,... More

We had contacted Hakan from Senguler Tourizm Agency via email to book in advance tickets for a Galatasaray game. The service was great. Hakan was always available via email, and very helpful. He took care of everything, and offered us turkish coffee that we had on the rooftop of his agency, which has a spectacular view on the Bosphorus. We... More

An unique and special way to watch a dervish ceremony without the extra fuss. Observing the worshippers rituals before and after the ceremony was quite an experience. Hakan's narration about Mevlana's life on our way to the monastery completed this one of a kind sufi experience. If you are looking for an original dervish ceremony ask Hakan.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
