Kılıç Ali Paşa Hamam; The elegant authentic surroundings of this Turkish bath, magnificent creation of Mimar Sinan, transcends the timeless barriers between old and new… Giving you an escape from the hustle and bustle of beautiful Istanbul City.Mimar Sinan the legendary Architect of that period was commissioned by “Kilic Ali Pasa” to build the Hamam to withstand the ravages of the sea and time. The large light, Magnificent Dome above the Camegah (relaxation area) is 14 meters across and 17 meters high one of the largest single domes built by Sinan. The features of the Kulhan Chimney/exhaust, the leaded domes and the glass elephant eyes along with brick by brick reappointing, original Kurnas and some carved stone and marble slabs found during excavation have been retained and used within the premises adding to its extreme historical beauty and interest. The Hamam Ritual is an ancient one, the materials used have not significantly changed and used to restore energy and vitality to the body by reducing the toxins, and allowing the skin to breathe again

Wonderful! The staff are very professional and really look after you. The hamam is very clean and beautiful. Great ambiance and while you're inside you forget there is a bustling city outside. The was my first hamam experience and I highly recommend it to everyone else. Yes you do get naked (only wear disposable undies) but no one notices. Everyone... More

Easy to get to through tram. Service is spectacular. It is authentic to the tradition yet luxurious and makes you feel like a Sultan. It is gender secluded and sharing same facility; we went on Thursday (can't speak to the rest of the week days) and before 4pm is for ladies and men start at 4:00ish. This wasn't a problem... More

I'd allow yourself plenty of time here afterwards so you don't need to rush off anywhere afterwards. This place felt extremely clean and had a lovely calm atmosphere - the white marble and ceiling designs were gorgeous. Highly recommended.

I have been toying with the idea of going to a hamam since my first visit to Istanbul in 2015 but ended up not going because I wasn't sure if I would like it. What a mistake that was! I finally decided to pay this particular hamam a visit after seeing all the wonderful pictures on its website and two... More

If you've never been to a Turkish bath (Hamami) - you have to go here. It's about five times more expensive that your local, authentic, neighborhood bath that most Turks would go to - but it's worth the money (and I have tried others). They offer you full treatment, guided and clarified in English, and the building is spectacular. Be... More

I loved this Hammam so much I went twice. They really take care of you and their service is impeccable. If you're new to Hammam they will explain everything. A must have experience in Istanbul. Great neighborhood. Really chic cafes and bars nearby.

Amazing find down the alleyway from where we stayed at Karakoy Rooms. Terrific staff. Simply phenomenal. They did their job so well and were so accommodating. They informed my girlfriend and I on the rules: women have the place to themselves and men are only allowed during certain hours. Unfortunately i do not speak Turkish but the lady who booked... Istanbul is an amazing city to visit, But ur trip will be incomplete if u dont go to a Turkish bath. And this one is the one to visit. I am not used to that idea, and i was reluctant at first. It turned out to be an excellent experience from the minute you walk in till you leave. the... More

Staying in Karakoy

Neighbourhood Profile
Karakoy
Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most historically significant area, it’s currently one of the most happening parts of town as well. Here street vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks of the Horn where the views of major attractions across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions, such as the iconic 14th century Galata Tower and the Museum of Modern Art. A major hub for local and international waterborne traffic, Istanbul’s commercial and maritime heritage remains as relevant and evident as ever in Karakoy. Commuter ferries mingle with luxury cruise liners at its busy port, ensuring a continuously cosmopolitan flow of people..
