Loved the dancing, particularly the belly dancers. This is a very touristy outing, not really somewhere to go if you're determined to see the 'real' Istanbul, but hey, it was still a lot of fun. It is in a really small, intimate venue, any seat you get has a great view. We paid 60TL per person, not sure if other... More

Belly Dancer at end of show was good, male dancers at the end of show dancing on their toes and musicians are very good -- the majority of the show was not very good. Not sure why the other reviewers are raving about this place. You'll be better off getting a cup of tea and sitting on the Bosporus watching... More

Great space. Our show was not sold out but would still recommend getting reservations and request seats in center. I cannot judge authenticity of performance but it was entertaining from beginning to end. Live music accompaniment was exceptional.

This was a colourful night with great costumes and music. Ther is enough variety and a nice well frunished venue with good views for everyone. theree is a history of dance in the foyer, which is also interesting.

For those reviewers disappointed because they couldn't snap pictures, one must remember this is a religious ceremony (and my understanding is that the "real" ceremony can take hours, rather than this one-hour performance). The first half is devoted to Sufi music performed by several musicians and singers. The singers have amazingly haunting voices. The second half is the actual whirling... More

I was really looking forward to seeing the whirling dervishes but unfortunately, I found the whole experience very disappointing. It was massively overpriced and incredibly monotonus and boring. We weren't even allowed to take photos which would have been nice, as the dervishes did look quite impressive. The location (an old hammam) was the only redeeming feature of this evening.

Price for this performance is about 25 USD per person. It is very normal price for a program in a historical and perfectly decorated venue such as HodjaPasha plus this price include free softs drinks and sweets. Usually the people writing bad review like you they are only coming to take photos and expecting entertainment in a ceremony. We dont... More

If you're tired of running around visiting all the sights in istanbul and you want something relaxing, then this is a good choice. It's not just a show, but a introduction into the colorful dansing art of the region. The whole show takes about two hours including a 15-minute break when they serve something to drink and some Turkish delights... More

This was an unexpected gem. The show was colorful and energetic. It featured dances from various regions of Turkey. It was interesting to see the differences between the different dances and costumes. Before the show we got a sheet of paper listing the different dances. There was no presentation during the show, just dancing to live music. There was a... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
