Lots of fishermen on both sides of the bridge, nice smells coming from the fish restaurants on the lower deck and from the pastries served. There were also some locals trying to scam tourists for a game of passing a ball through some bottles, I...More

You feels the special Istanbul wibe when you walk the Galata bridge. The fishermans are catching the sardeles, many local boats are taking the tourists to Bosporus, the outstanding view to Galata tower and to the mosks! Beautiful! And a must to visit!

OK. Just lot of people fishing. Quite dirty. Nothing wonderful. Would not make a special trip unless you want to see local life and people fishing.

A walk across the bridge means dodging people and fishers. Buckets of tiny fish await their sad fate. Fabulous views of the city mosques but all a bit too hectic to be enjoyable. Maybe choose to go early morning.

Such a lovely walk accross the Galata Bridge. We had a beautiful sunny day crossing the bridge. Seeing all the fisherman catching those tiny fish. We crossed the bridge quite a few times on foot as it was such a nice stroll.

Sitting pretty with an age-old air about it, Karakoy
is situated on the European side of the Bosphorus at
the mouth of the Golden Horn. Perhaps the city’s most
historically significant area, it’s currently one of
the most happening parts of town as well. Here street
vendors and alfresco fish restaurants line the banks
of the Horn where the views of major attractions
across the water rival Karakoy’s own key attractions,

By 9 PM, Galata Bridge will still be lined with fishermen, although the area in general will be dead because the last ferries to and from the nearby Eminonu have already passed. If you could go to only one spot in Istanbul... More
