It's where a lot of hostels and guesthouses are located but it's also where some of the most stunning tourist attractions are based. It is up there with anywhere in the world.

We visited during Ramadan. Topkapi Palace, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, close Bazaar, all walking distance. Food is great. Green Parks. There was security everywhere. We felt safe. Highly recommend. Lots of boutique hotels. Some Exchange offices take commission so be careful. Cash is good. You...More

Don't believe the hype about scams, yes, some shop dealers are pushy and it pays to be aware of your surroundings, but I never felt unsafe wander all over this place day-after-day.

I was lucky enough to stay in this area which holds most of the main attractions. The area itself is so lovely to loose yourself in and find a hidden gem.

Sultanahmet is chock full of enough to see, do, eat, and meet that you don't HAVE to go anywhere else in Istanbul. I wouldn't recommend you JUST hang out here, if this is your first time... but if you were interested in experiencing a week...More

With so many unmissable attractions within a mere
stroll of each other – and all set around the site of
an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an
overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a
prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly
epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the
Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this
relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to

Greetings My wife and I will be landing at Istanbul, Ataturk airport for a 10 hour stop before continuing our way to Ulaanbaatar. Flight is scheduled to arrive to Istanbul at 9:30 and then depart at 19:20 on a Friday. Considering all there is to do at the airport related to immigration, passport check, counter check in and so, would you recommend a visit to Sultanahmet? How much do you think would it cost to get there and return to the airport by taxi and having couple kebabs for lunch? Thank you so much for your help.

I heard people in egypt are annoying and hassling, especially taxi drivers, does anyone know if there is some car and driver available for hire for a full week instead of having a nightmare with taxis for the duration of my stay

There are some drivers, but all depends on personal knowledge, try to check with someone who visited before and they will help in this regards
