This is my second time in Istanbul, the first one was when I had to change planes there so I couldn’t visit the city.
This time I saw the beautiful mosques, parks, was walking along the embankment and got my impression. Despite the fact that local markets area is pretty dirty, I like the atmosphere. I didn’t have a lot of time so that I visited only one part of the city, hope to see another one next time!
See you Turkey 🇹🇷

Location is great, easy to come by public transportation, fantastic view fm each angle of the venue with The Princess İslands in the frame,a big süpermarket on the side with famous Burgerking next to it,plenty of nice restaurants on the terrace, some nights they also have live music, marina has all facilities to make service to yr boat or yacht.Very good place to socialize with the friends specially at the terrace while weather permits.

Dear all
I do not need to tell you how wonderful Istanbul is. This is a huge city. It has so much culture and exciting things to do. You can find it easily on line for things to do. A few tips that I think will make your trip smoother since I had hard time to find these information before I got there.
Here they are
1. They have tram (not subway) service from airport to downtown but you will need to transfer once which will require another token. They have token machine in every station. It is very easy to move around the city. BUT.... this is a tram. space is very limited and this is a huge city with 15 millions people. Try to picture you carrying your suitcases on the trams on and off twice in a very packed trams. It is not going to happen. It is insane and close to impossible. However, people are extremely nice and polite. They got up and yield the seats to my parents several times. SO what you do....?
2. if you are taking cruises and not using cruise transportation service. I will advise you pre book your pick up and drop off service with Vaitor.com. THey are great. Book it early. If you try to go to airport from city center to airport, The taxi will not run meters, it will cost you twice or triple amount of money due to traffic. Even the last minute Vaitor.com transfer service is more expensive if you book it late during the rush hour.
3. We took tram to airport which only cost 8 Turkish lira. The taxi is asking for 170 US dollar or 150 Eros during rush hours. We do not have luggages with us to get on the tram to airport because I took them to airport the night before to store them. I realize the last day in Istanbul will be difficult since our flight is late and we need to leave the Cruise early and there is no storage units anywhere in the cruise terminal. I was able to find out there are two storage service in the airport. it costs 18 Turkish lira per luggage.
It was not easy for me but make the last day in Istanbul much easier. We were able to go around the city to see things we like to see and then get on the tram to airport.
I hope this information helps. let me know if you have any question.

My wife, my daughter and me arrived at the Port of Istanbul on Thursday the 25th of June for a few hours on shore as part of a cruise on MSC Magnifica ex Venice. We were offered a taxi ride to the centre of Instanbul for about 30 Turkish Lira or 10 Euro to which we agreed. My wife and daughter were to go back early to the ship because of a tooth ache.
On my return to the ship I was diddled out of €50 and overcharged in that a 30 Tl fare outwards had become a 124.45 Tl fare on return! The taxi driver miraculously turned €50 into a 5 Tl note by an amazing and infuriating sleight of hand and I know I gave him €50 because I kept all my Turkish notes in my right hand pocket and all my Euros in my wallet in my left hand pocket so there would be no mistakes. The man insisted on payment and , in a panic I gave him another €50, getting back the correct change in Turkish money. I had been left 100 meters down a parallel road to the correct Port road for the cruise ship and so a delay occurred before I could get help by which time the man and his taxi were gone.
A few lessons:- 1 . Never take Istanbul taxis on your own, have witnesses.
2. Call out the value and currency of ANY note your are handing over to a taxi man, have witnesses watching before you give it to him.
3. If you cannot read the meter because of sun glare, say so.
4. Always get an estimate of your journey time, route and cost from a reliable local source eg. your hotel etc where you can identify the info provider and at least have some recourse in case of trouble like this.
5 DO NOT tell anyone you are on a cruise or that you are going back to a ship etc. thjis marks you out as a new kid in town and an easy target for a con trick.

İstanbul is a very much fascinating city with its beautiful Bosphorus where plenty of ships and boats are going up and down.Strongly recommended to arrange a boat tour for a couple of hours from any available piers in Kadıköy,Üsküdar,Kabataş,Eminönü or Karaköy so that the beauties of both sides can be closely seen.

The only bad experience we had in this lovely city was upon first arriving by cruise ship we took one of the taxis located right where you leave the ship. We were promised 1. an English speaking driver - he had very little English 2. a 4 hour driving tour around the city with stops where we wanted for E100 or 250 Turkish lira - we got a half hour drive then were taken to the cathedral. OK on that - but afterward, the "cousin" of the driver who acted as our guide to the Hagia Sophia, (a guide to walk us up the street? it is open to the public and in a huge area, stupid us) asked us in to where he also worked for a drink of tea " as is our custom." It happens that he also worked in a rug store. What that custom consists of is SELLING you a rug. This took nearly 2 hours before we got out of there without ( miraculously) buying. Then the cab took us back to the ship since we were out of time and demanded 270 Lira instead of 250! He knew very well what had been agreed upon but since we did not buy a rug, he did not get his commission! I did not have any other money so he said he would take the $20 I had left in my wallet. Very bad feelings were left after this episode. DO NOT agree to any free tea or drinks anywhere unless you are prepared to sit through a sales pitch of some kind. And always negociate every cab fare. Our hotel manager told us that NO fare in the city should ever be more than 25 lira.

İstanbul Şehir Limanı is getting more extension that means more cafes and nice eateries at the lower side of the Shopping Mall.Very nice and quality shops and stores are taking part on the upper level, making very good service to its customers, moreover, nice coffee shops and branding restaurants are also making good business.Underground parking lot is also bery convenient to use for parking yr vehicle.Recommended.

We arrived in Istanbul as part of a week long cruise around the Aegean sea - additional points of docking were, Izmir, Mykonos and Rhodes before returning to the host port of Marmaris. The skyline as you approach the Bosporus from the sea of marmara is very impressive, and a totally diff pic at night. The city is vast - up to 13.8 million population, and a fleet of some 18000 yellow dacia / kia taxi cabs hurtle you around this vibrant metropolis...must visits are The legendary blue mosque - stinks to high heaven of sweaty feet! - the grand bazaar - make meadowhall seem like the corner shop and the topkapi palace...we went in auust and even at 10am the temps were up in the mid 40's - thank god for chilled EFES beer!
The bosporus is extreemly busty with variable sized ferries whizzing left to right constantly and when the mosques call the faithful to prayer - haunting wailing voices appear to come from all points of this wonderful place...
