It seems too long from Ankara to Kars but it will be the one of the unforgettable times of your life. Find a place in the bedded compartments and bring some food to enjoy. There are something to eat at the restaurant but very limited. Beversges are varying but no alcohol. You can meet with adventurers and be a part... More

My 27 hours travel from Ankara to Kars would have never been the same without a ride in the famous train. It rides a fascinating desertic landscape in high Anatolian plateau. The train even follows the Euphrates river, the same one that crossed Irak. It is very confortable, safe and cheap. This ride was the highlight of my Turkey journey.... More

Doğu Ekspresi was used to be operating between Haydarpaşa Station of Istanbul in Asian side and Kars, but due to new railway project in conjunction with New Marmaray railway system, operations from Istanbul had been suspended long ago Now,it makes service from Ankara to Kars.A good way to see this part of Turkey drom a different angle.Recommended.

We took the Dogu express from Kayseri to Erzurum - 14 hrs. We had a 2 person sleeper which the porter turned down for us when we boarded the train at 0048am. The sleeper compartment has comfortable bunk beds, pull out table, a fridge, basin with hot and cold water, hand towels, soap, lighting, and an adjustable air conditioner control... More

We took the Dogu Ekspresi from Ankara to Erzurum and what a great experience it was. The trip took about 24 hours travelling through beautiful countryside and as it really is a slow train you can take wonderful pictures and really have time to look at nature and all the little villages along the way. We stayed in a compartment... More

We took the Dogu eksepresi train from Kars to Divrigi. 12 hours for just 20TL and a lot of ground covered. Seats are comfortable with plenty of leg room. There was a restaurant car which we didnt use but a trolley came by with coffee and snacks however we had stocked up with cheese in Kars so had our own... More

We took a sleeper compartment (2 person) on the Dogu Express from Kayseri to Kars and what a great adventure it was. The sights and sounds of the waiting room at Kayseri Station and the fun of conversing with officials and booking a berth was wonderful. Meeting other travellers and finally getting on board for the journey. The Sleeper (1st... More
