I was happy to visit this theater as a Japanese. I was moved by it’s fine decoration representing ancient Uzbek culture, constructed by Japanese citizens.
I of course enjoyed an opera :)

Not too far from the Amir Timur Monument, you will find the Navoi Opera Theater which is a beautiful building worth a quick visit even if you don't go to see a show inside.

Nowhere else in the world will you see such great quality opera and ballet for such a reasonable admission price. I paid about $2 for a balcony seat to a two-act ballet, with full orchestra. It was wonderfully produced and undertaken. Give yourself a bit of extra time to stroll around the fountain in the plaza and also the nearby public park. It's especially gorgeous after dark.

Commonly known as the "Opera", the Alisher Navoiy Theater is a beautiful building in the city center, just opposite to Lotte City Palace hotel, where I stayed and the view from the hotel was awesome especially in the night when it is lighted. Worth going for a few pictures and evening walk around the area.

At the beautiful Navoi Opera in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, we were taken on a journey by the the awe inspiring dancers of the Bayadere ballet. Bayadere tells the story of an Indian warrior who falls romantically in love, depicted with glorious costumes and exotic music. If you are visiting Tashkent then you must experience the magic of this theatre with its beautiful architecture and exciting shows.

The theater was interesting architecture when seen early in the morning. Later in the evening it is covered in colorful lights. The theater was built between 1943 and 1947 using Japanese prisoners of war as labor. The theater recognizes Alisher Navoi, who lived 600 years earlier and recognized as the founder of Turkik literature.Worth a view of the architecture if not a show.

Stopped by there and our guide gave us some great input on the whole place. The fact that they used Japanese prisoners to built it was quite the intriguing story!

Navoi Opera Theatre has daily performances at ridiculously cheap prices making it a great place to experience an opera. I was lucky to catch a rare matinee performance of one (Aleko by S.Rakhmaninov) as I always arrived late and never stayed through an evening in Tashkent. Looking around in its beautiful interior is worth the price of admission alone. The performance I caught had a good balance of singing and dancing making it interesting enough to sit through for 90 minutes.

The opera house is located in a small square. There is a very fine fountain out the front. We did not have time to go inside but the external architecture is interesting.

I did not purchase my ticket in advance. I looked at the performance list outside the Opera House and purchased my ticket on the day of the performance.
