It's one of the best organised zoos I've been to. It's average size and can be toured by foot even if you have small children. We have a 2 years old. He enjoyed it very much. We were lucky to be approached by a guide who charged reasonably acceptable amount for the tour (1500 Rupees). He showed us around very... More

An amazing time spent. Just half an hour drive from Colombo 03, this place is worth visiting. For SAARC adult they charge LKR 700 and LKR 350 for a kid. Total value for money. Our kid enjoyed every minute of 2 ½ hours spent inside. Various species can be seen in birds, reptiles and mammals. Very well maintained and wide... More

Place is a mess all overgrown and no upkeep and maintenance. The animals look starved and thin. Not worth a visit

Perfect day out in Colombo. I would suggest to go early in the morning and try to finish the tour before mid day when it gets really hot. Lots of beautiful animals. Walk in cages for butterflies and exotic birds. Beautiful setup and good nice long walk to complete this tour. I took lots of pictures.

Big old zoo thats been terribly managed, with animals in really constrained sad condition. Elephants chained up and made to do performances, lots of stereotypic behaviour can be seen from most animals etc. Not at all comparable to zoos around the world.

I love the new changes at the Dehiwala Zoological Gardens. It gives the once caged animals freedom and space. Love going here.

This is the oldest and biggest zoo in Sri Lanka. It has a massive variety of animals all over the world. We could possibly see all the animals. But the place is too packed. Some animals need more space and bigger cages or even I prefer to see them in free area rather caged inside 4 walls. This place is... More
