There is a lot of history at work here. Recommend making a night time visit, as the lighting is magical and the square can be quite empty after sunset.

There is definitely plenty of space to move in this square. It's a popular place for locals to spend time, and also for wedding photos. The surrounding modern skyline emphasises how much Ulaan Baatar wants to be recognised and an international centre.

Immense square in the center of the city featuring, of course, an impressive monument to Ghengis Khan. There are a number of bicycle rental vendors in the square renting dilapidated bikes you can ride around the square. Nearby are a number of bars and restaurants.

Fun place to visit, must be amazing in the summer when the concerts are happening at the square. I wish it wasn’t under construction while we were there.

Picturesque square. Wide open space surrounded by museums and historical monuments. Not to be missed when visiting Mongolia.

Always something going on in the Square! Even the wedding parties are glorious in colour! Plus easy landmark for getting your bearings.

As a fairly central point in UB you will probably end up here anyway so take 15 minutes out to see the Genghis Khan statue with mongolian script which is hard to find in the modern city. The square is surrounded by an eclectic mix...More
