To the south of Ulaanbaatar is a hill with a great view over the Tuul river, the surrounding green hills and the sprawling city with more and more highrise buildings. Several steps lead straight up in a direct line to the top of this hill,...More

I went there the hard way, by walking up the 600+ steps. You can take a shortcut through the adjacent business and shopping centre. From this vantage point, you can see the comparison between modern UB and the majority of the city, the poor ger...More

Well worth a visit. It's a lot of stairs, so try to drive up if you are unfit, the last bit is stairs only so no wheelchair access. Good old soviet era architecture, it's good to have a look to see how Russia was promoting...More

This imposing monument overlooking the city remembers the Russian soldiers who freed Mongolia from occupation in 1921. It is an impressive structure and well worth the walk up the many stairs to get there

A bird's eye view vantage point that that honors allied Mongolian and Soviet soldiers killed in World War II. If steps are your thing - they are quite manageable. In winter the steps can be slippery as they are covered in ice so the proper kind...More

You see all of UB from it. The mosaics about the Russian-Mongol friendship are among the most turgidly stupid I've ever seen.

The murals are impressive and beautifully done, but it was not one of my favorite places to visit. I would not feel like I was missing out if we had not gone there. It does have expansive views of UB, but we had better views...More

This is an impressive memorial. Great views of the city from the top and an interesting design. There are things to do at the top like buy snacks and drinks, play games like throwing darts at balloons and holding a golden eagle (which looked very...More

From the top you get great views of UB and the mountains. Well worth the walk up the stairs. The murals show important events in Mongolian / Soviet history. At the top they sell souvenirs. You can also get your photo taken with an eagle.

The views alone make it worth the steps, and there are plenty if them. An insight into the Russian years at the monument with fantastic views of the city and riverside. Do this then the Buddha statue which is close by. If there is even...More

Yes, take a bus #7 or any bus destination says to Zaisan then hop on it. Fee is 500mnt which 25 cents. Other option is walking to there is 20minutes from downtown.
