We visited yesterday, costing 10,000 for two of us. I honestly thought it was overrated. The surrounding Temples are much more interesting than the (offensive gold) statue. Also wasn't impressed by their care of animals here.. especially the pond with God knows how many fish...More

This national stupa in Laos is a symbol of both the Buddhist religion and a sacred place for Lao people. Built in 1566 by King Xaysethairath. We hired a private car and visited Buddha Park before proceeding to Pha That Luang. Must visit stupa while...More

That Luang is a must-see when in Vientiane. Budget about 2 hours to walk around That Luang and the surrounding grounds and temples. The fee to enter That Luang is a little high (by lao standards) and it isn't really all that great inside the...More

As a defining icon from Vientiane this location is a definite 'must see' for any visitor to the city. While the stupa itself is incredible to view the other temples surrounding it are equally impressive. Entrance fees are nominal and well worth paying. Highly recommended.

I'm not completely sure how bad the pollutionproblem is onnormal day, but when I went here during amajor festival it was horrible. Thrash everywhere. Other than that definitely one of the most beautiful temples I've ever seen. Worth to see no doubt! The festival also...More

It was under renovation when we visited but even so, you can't deny its beauty. The place is huge and everything around it is very impressive. It will be more beautiful once the renovation's done for sure.

We visited this place yesterday and it was packed because of a celebration. Very strict policy for women on attire. I think it's so that you have to pay the cost of renting a coverup, most places offer a free coverup, not here! Once inside,...More

I was very disappointed when I arrived at the stupa as it was completely covered for restauration. It's such a nice place for pictures but now it was just a waste of time.
