Nice place to walk around. Don't go in the afternoon it really hot weather. Please drink a lot of drinking water with you if you are going in the afternoon. Mist attractive monument in center of Vientiane.

Awesome attraction, pay the money to climb up to the top and get great views down the carriage way towards the city. Free to walk around the grounds.

I highly recommend visiting the Patuxai in Vientiane. The architecture is beautiful and the views of the city and fountains below are fantastic. There are also more Lao souvenir shops inside on various levels than I'd seen anywhere else in Vientiane. It's a great spot...More

Not much had improved since my last visit 50 years ago, I guess that is a good thing. Definitely pay the $25cents to up the stairs to view the city.

Patuxai offers an interesting city view. You nned to go up a lot of stairs. I don't know if they have a lift.

I visited Patuxai as everyone visiting Vientiane, if the place looks like some kind of Paris Champs Elysees, it is quite different as there is barelly no shop there, but mainly official government buildings... nothing much to do except taking a picture of this impressive...More

We read online that this was built of concrete for 10,000 USD in the 60s. So naturally we did not expect much. We were pleasantly surprised by how large and beautiful it was. Worth the walk.

Every country has one such huge gate.. the write-up there says it's uncomplete because of the countries condition.. but even in it's present condition it looks beautiful.. hard to miss as it is in center of the city.. good place to have pictures clicked

I always like to climb a gate or tower so it had to be done. It is a little scruffy and there are gift shops all the way up but the view all round from the very top is quite impressive. I like the fact...More
