This is a nice landmark with good views of the surrounding government buildings and city. The upper floors offer markets with both reasonable and modern souvenirs.

Located on a 4 lane roundabout, with only 1 crossing point. Nicely tended green areas but you can't walk on them. When we visited the fountain had no water inside so nothing to see there. The whole place is also unshaded except in the main structure. The structure is in need of some TLC, and it provides the only shade... More

I don't mean to be down on this place, as there is very little to see in Vientiane I went along. However, I think I would have spent my time better along the Mekong. The views were so average to poor I didn't even bother taking a photograph.

so, this place was built of the image of arc the triumph, in paris, but it shows that it was built the cheapest option possible (concrete) and lack of maintenance. it is good, for the wiew from the top (7 floors.) and for the gardens.

The hike up isn't too bad, and the view is definitely worth it. The entire area is quite picturesque, and it's only 15bht to go up, which isn't bad. Be advised that they close at 5pm!!

The local version of the Parisian Arc de Triomphe, this Patuxai can be accessed on foot to the top for a fee. Its construction has a scandalous past for foreign finance meant to aid Laos was diverted to build it.

a great place to visit and get a 360 deg view of Vientiane. Little cafe under the trees at the end of the park offers a respite from the heat and a cool drink or Ice Cream!

It looks similar to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris but nothing compared simply they are just different. I was curious about the architecture hence I went all the way to see it, honestly I wouldn't go back again because it is out of the way and aside from that building and garden nothing worth the time. I rather spend... More

There is nothing to do here but to go up and have a view of the city. Many hotels offer now better views for free. The place need urgently a remodelling so it can offer an exhibition or at least "something". It is just a terrace!

It is clear why this draws parallels with arc de triomph. It is very similar including the long tree lined avenues leading to it. Don't just take photos from the outside though. Make sure you go in and climb the steps ( roughly 200) to see the views across the city.
