It is not an easy hike
We took a guided daytrip to Ala Archa from Bishkek with company called Kettig.kg. It started at 12 and we came back by around 6 PM. The price was about 8 euro per person, 800 som. Very fair. But I must say, the hike in Ala Archa was not easy for me. Even though we supposedly did a very easy hike of 1 km to a stone called broken heart, I struggled heavily with altitude sickness, my heart was beating so fast and my head was dizzy. The guide was also going very fast. But we decided to stop and take more breaks. On the way we met travellers who had gone to the waterfall, which is a 2 hour hike and they were very tired. You should be prepared and take lots of water and hiking sticks. I only survived the way back down because a nice person of our group held my hand, otherwise I would have gone rolling down. The path is not easy, slippery sand and stones. But, there was an easy thing to see, if you just stay near the entrance, you can easily go to the river and see it passing by in all its glory. No hiking skills needed.

Beautiful trail with squirrels, snowy peaks and a waterfall
Nice walk up the gorge to the waterfall. There's some great views unfolding continuing up the hiking trail. The colors in autumn were stunning, and glimpses of the snow-covered nearby peaks added a majestic feel throughout. In the lower sections there's tons of squirrels with beautifully light grey fur looking for a cheap steal of winter provisions.

    short holiday
The Alarcha Gorge is one of the most famous sights of Kyrgyzstan. Its located near Bishkek There are several reasons for such popularity. The park is located just 30 kilometers from Bishkek, because it is easy to get here and there is all the necessary tourist infrastructure: a good paved road, shops, hotels, cafes, and places to relax among the picturesque nature. We booked 2 days tour with Pegas Adventure (Easy to contact on WA) very responsive manager. 1st day was Alarcha and Chunkurchaak valley, 2nd day Konorchek canyons. In Alarcha is possible hiking 5-6 hours to the waterfall, but its not easy to go there, I hikied just inside park 1 hour and easy after this possible to go by car Chunkurchak valley and there is you can do horseback riding in a beautiful mountains. I really enjoyed in this 2 days

One of the Most Beautiful Places I Have Visited
I visited Ala-Archa a couple of weeks ago when I was in Kyrgyzstan. This is one of the most beautiful places I have visited. The mountain views are magnificent and the hike I took had beautiful vistas at every turn. I hiked up toward the waterfall. It was a challenging hike and I didn't go all the way to the waterfall because the snow became more common as we approached. The snow did make things more difficult and it was slippery. The hike was challenging and for the distance we hiked we gained over 1,200 feet of elevation (over 400 meters). It took us about 3.5 hours to hike over 2 miles. We reached at elevation of about 8,200 feet. The air was thin throughout the hike because of the elevation. It did make hiking more taxing and we stopped more frequently to catch our breath, but it was worth the work. We saw a few other people on the trail and had pleasant conversations with them. Some spoke English, a few others we had short conversations in basic Russian. It was a remarkable experience. Hiking back down the mountain was slippery. There were some muddy places and I slipped in the mud three times or so. I did not get injured, but I was a mess when I got down. Do keep in mind that in slippery conditions the hikes can be very challenging. I highly recommend a visit to Ala-Archa if you are in Kyrgyzstan and you are healthy enough for hiking at higher elevations.

    Day trip from Bishkek
Best travel destination if you have 1 day in Bishkek, its just one hour from Bishkek and you will see full of snow there, you can feed squirrels with nuts or chips. We booked trip with local company “Pegas Adventure” they helped me arrange tour in Kyrgyzstan, easy to contact on WA. In winter time is bit cold better to bring warm clothes, temperature during the day is +5 at night -10 C If you’re really good hikers possible until frozen waterfall it takes 6-7 hours hiking

    Snow capped grand mountains
Stunningly beautiful scenery with snow topped mountains, pine forests and mountain rivers. There are no path signs so have a guide or go in a group. I was left behind and had no idea which path to take. There is a rather insignificant waterfall to walk to but was frozen when I went.

Stunning Ala Archa Gorge - don't miss it!
Ala Archa Gorge is stunning and totally worth visiting. Walk to the waterfall needs proper hiking shoes. The quick altitude change plus the hot weather resulted in us only getting as far as Broken Heart rock - well worth the effort for the tremendous views. The steep descent is on scree, and I wished I'd brought poles. Easy walking along the gorge beside the river - so many places for photos!
