We had wanted to visit the Kyrgyz State Museum of History of Kyrgyzstan (say that ten times fast) when we were in Bishkek last summer but it had been closed for renovations which it looks like from the continuing reviews on TA that it is...More

We went here all excited to learn about the history of the Kyrgyz nomadic culture and their influence on the worlds history. To say we were a bit disappointed at this national treasure being closed and that it wasn’t going to reopen during our visit...More

I saw this museum in 2006 and looked forward to returning in 2018, but discovered that it is entirely closed, as of at least April 2018 when I attempted to visit. I was told by staff at the door that it is scheduled to re-open...More

No need to visit, currently under renovation. Check before you go if you go in the future to make sure it's open. They said it will take about a year.

By the look of it it will be quite a while before the renovation is complete. Having read some reviews abou the collection, it will obviously be worth exploring later

As we got into the square we could see all the windows had been removed and the inside looked like it was being removed! The place is being 'rebuilt' on the inside presumably to make it better and hopefully more interesting.
