Unfortunately, Rubies is no more

This was my favourite bar, but unfortunately it has been closed for a year and the building remains vacant. I can only hope it will be resurrected.

Rubies is a stalwart of the expatriate bar scene in Phnom Penh. On weekends (especially Friday nights) the crowd is literally bursting out the doors. On a weeknight it is a great place to catch up for a quiet drink. Staff are friendly, drinks are moderately priced and the space is comfortable. The previously mentioned odour issue has now thankfully... More

Rubies sits on a prime corner in the Phnom Penh expat lifestyle, amongst the style & action of Street 240. But that's also its greatest drawback - right on the corner is a big drain that emits an odour that'd kill a brown dog, as we say in Australia. So imagine sitting with your friends on a Friday night, sipping... More

Wandered past rubies and popped in for the one. Six or seven drinks later we were still there drinking amazing cocktails and some of nicest wine we have had for a while. Well worth a visit if you are in the neighbourhood. (if you are not you are missing out)

Maybe we went on a bad night, but I found this place overrated. Service was quite average even though it was almost empty, and we didn't find the place particularly inviting. Suggest better nightlife elsewhere.

I loved this place! The staff are always smiling and they mix a mean cocktail. Gorgeous decor, sit outside in the beer garden or sink into the massive pillows on the communal couch. Chilled during the day but it is pumping at night. Lots of fun events, I had a ball at their pre-Khmer New Year party. A great wine... More

I went to Rubies a whole lot over about a 2 week period. The place has a great vibe, a pretty cool clientele, and really friendly and accommodating staff. During the day, a fairly cruisy environment, great opportunities to go through their extensive music collection. At night a chance to get stuck into the well priced wine selction, and get... More
