…this park is in between the river and the palace compound. Lots of locals seem to be gathered here all throughout the day but especially in the evening when it’s a little cooler. Very friendly ambience with good views of the surrounding area too.

Popular place to congregate is outside the palace on the grass areas opposite the promenade. You can go for a nice stroll beside the river and then around this area - or sit on the grass and just chill out with the locals and monks.
There are always a few vendors in this area too as well as food stalls. i wasn't tempted by the fried tarantula but was enthralled by the light-up dancing dinosaurs and ducks. I'm just a big kid at heart though.

Good place to see families with children on their evening walks and street vendors add to the color.

The Royal Palace is very nice. Me and my wife enjoyed our tour and learned many things about Cambodia. We learned about Sambo history and culture. Many things in the Palace are memorable and historical.

Directly in front of the Royal Palace (between the Royal Palace and Sisowath Quay) the Royal Palace Park is a lively place both in the daytime and the nighttime but also a good place to chill out and watch the world go by.
I was walking past on my way to Wat Botum Park to see the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship monument and stopped off for an hour or so.
There’s a bright gold monument of whom I can only assume is the King directly in front of the Palace. The whole area is green and well-kept. There didn’t appear to be any soliciting of certain intimate services during my visit, so it’s ok to go with young children at night.
Plenty of locals playing games with a ball, card games and plenty with pic-nics.

We stayed quite near to the Royal Palace Park and there were always people out at night there. There are many vendors selling light up toys, sodas, candies, snacks etc. The entire place is guarded off from motorists. Many families come here at night and sit, talk and eat. It seemed like all the people were happy and the kids were having a blast. There also weren’t many foreigners there so be prepared for locals to stare at you.

Peaceful and well maintained grounds across from the Royal Palace. Good to relax and enjoy, within earshot of the river.
