Pleasant enough to walk along the corniche and end up at this square. What once was the world's tallest flagpole (with plans to be again) can be viewed from here. For world record geeks like myself, this is a must visit when in Baku.

" National Flag Square" which in 2010 was confirmed as the World's tallest flagpole but lost that title in 2011 and recently in 2017 this flagpole was dismantled and removed. What we saw was work in progress since February 2022 to build a new flag pole which on completion would be the highest flying flag in the World."

Lovely place for a casual walk (weather permitting). It is just one place where you come and you can escape from stress. So relieving.

This place is located at Baku Boulevard, and right now undergoing renovation. We visited it from outside only. There was no flag there at the moment

There is no flag on National Flag Square but our tour guide explained us it is because of the weather. Strong winds are very often in Baku. But it was a bit disappointing however the area looks great.

There is no flag as it fell down. The cops don’t like you taking photographs and the area is barricaded off.

Baku National Flag Square does not represent the importance it really has in the state of Azerbaidjan, for which its independence was so overwhelming.
It lies on the Caspian Sea and offers interesting views of the Baku skyline. In the square you can relax from an exhausting walk.

We walked from Sahil metro to the flag pole and were mystified why we could not see it flying. A nice policeman guarding the base told us the flag is CLOSED until next year because of "Raymond" - we are not sure who Raymond is though!!! Lovely walk, but remember to carry water🍷🍷
