This perhaps is one of the oldest theaters of Azerbaijan. It was built in 1928. Initially it's performances were in Russian but after one year Azerbaijani plays were introduced. The theater was named after Maxim Gorky first. In 1936 it was renamed as the Azerbaijan State Theater of Young Spectators. In 2009 two renowned theater teams were merged to perform in this theater as one group. You can find this theater on Nizami Street right across the grand Opera and Ballet Theater. The facade of the theater is rather grotesque, with silver pillars, but the interior is nice.
