This is the top concert hall of Baku. It is located on the corner where Istiglaliyyat meets Niyazi street. This early twentieth century building itself is worth a visit. It was designed by an Armenian architect Ter-Mikalov. He gave the exterior an Italian Renaissance look based on the buildings in Casino Monte Carlo, while the interior has German Rococo ornamentation. The building was constructed at the request of the rich and wealthy residents of Baku who wished to have a high society club here. Later it was converted to a music hall by the Soviets in order to promote Azerbaijan's classic and folk music. In 1937 the building was named after the renowned composer Muslim Magomayev. The building has undergone major renovations time and again. The main building consists two halls. The Summer Hall has 1100 seats and the Winter Hall has 610 seats. It also has an open-air concert area set amidst the beautiful garden.

I live and work in Baku and thoroughly enjoy going to concerts in this magnificent hall.
A few days ago a local friend came with me to find out and buy tickets to future concerts. The woman in the ticket office was not there, despite the opening hours.
when she returned she was: very unhelpful, bordering on rude and had no interest to tell us about future concerts. This attitude had put me off going to find out about concerts.
She needs replacing with someone enthusiastic, friendly and helpful.
