Great place to walk in the evening. This place becomes really lively especially on weekends. People singing and dancing is a common thing to notice. Many amazing cafes, hotels, souvenir shops are located here. This connects to Opera house to the Republic square, so it is quite an important road that you'll be frequently treading.

With its beggars and cheap toy peddlers this street wouldn't be out of place next to a run-down railway station somewhere. Expensive shops and crowds of tourists. The only good purpose it serves is being a shortcut from opera to Republic Square.

Located a block away from my hotel, I passed by this car-free street during my brief visit of Yerevan. There are restaurants, banks, Metro Station, shops, etc. here. Located near it is a beautiful park and the Opera House.

During one of my walks here, I heard a young guitarist singing an American song. Started feeling homesick already!

It's an avenue overran by street hawkers peddling everything from cheap toys to junk food. Avoid it.

Crazy place, after 4 PM they flock to this place and just walk around. Kids on scooters almost run you over, and if you stop to talk to someone they walk right through your conversation. No one is polite, or moves out of the way. I don't know why they go there no one can afford to shop in these stores anyway.

NORTHERN AVENUE in Yerevan is the shopping center of the capital city and connects the Liberty Square in the Abovyan street (in front of the Opera House) and the Abovyan street leading in the Republic Square (450m long and 27m wide) and is for pedestrians.
The Northern Avenue is the commercial heart of the city of Yerevan (high class shops, Cafes, Restaurants, Hotels, expensive apartments, etc.), while on the subterrain level there is a shopping arcade and parking underneath. It is constructed in 2002 based on the original plan of Architect Tamanyan (from 1924) and comprises 4 small squares and 11 buildings.
We have visited the Northern Avenue either to sit on a nice Café-House (enjoying coffee/tea/sweets/snacks) or to stroll around and visit the beautiful commercial shops of the pedestrian Avenue. We have always enjoyed our visit to the Northern Avenue and we think that a visit is not to be missed, when you are in Yerevan
