At the top of the "Cascade Complex" and sided by the "Aznavour Center", a Soviet Era remaining monument in Yerevan's "Kentron District". An obelisk marks the "Monument to 50 Years of Soviet Armenia". As history cannot be simply erased, the obelisk is still there and, artistically speaking, it is a good example of the Soviet Era military monument's characteristics. Awesome views of Yerevan and great pictures await you. Nearby "Victory Park and the Statue of Mother Armenia" can be easily reached from this monument. Enjoy!

This review is quite late. I happened to pass by this monument on my way to Victory Park and Mother Armenia Statue. After climbing the stairs of the Cascades I was surprised to see this tall statue next to a public park.

Official name of the monument is MOnument to 50 years of Soviet Armenia. It is built in 1967. But the creators also create it as a symbol of Armenian statehood eternity. It has eternity symbols at the bottom and part of old Armenian kingdom`s symbol at the top (usually the top part is associated with wheat but in real it is from Urartu country`s coat of arms).

To get here, go to the top of the Cascade stairs, then past the bit of the Cascade that was left to rot unfinished, up a public road, onto stairs that take you over a busy road, then finally up to the monument. I have been there several times and it's been pretty much deserted each time. All that is there is a tired looking guard and a spire. No plaque. It feels abandoned.

This huge monolithic monument towers over the city of Yerevan. It is located beyond the top of the cascades where you take a short winding path upwards further and then ascend stairs.
It has a wide open plaza with benches to sit and admire both it and the stunning views of Yerevan below and Mount Ararat behind in the distance.

The place is a great for the view when the sky is clear. And at night the view is also incredible. Is good to read a little bit about the monument before. Yes is a soviet monument but the symbols are quite interesting, like the infinite one (in a circular form)

It is quite a walk up the steps after the cascades and the last sets of metal steps to the top seem a bit dodgy but great views from the top. The monument seems to be deteriorating quite rapidly and is not being maintained...perhaps reflecting how the soviet era is viewed?

This is where the romance happens! Lovers come and enjoy the view of the opera/cascade below. They are slowly refurbishing the area, placing metalart and creating a small sitting area.

Located at the top of Cascade, near Victory Park. It's not easy to get here from downside, from cascade stairs, but its worth it. A marvelous view is opened to town and mount Ararat from the observation deck. There is no way to climb up to the top of this monument, tough I know some tourists that have tried to.

A very tall statue. Although the size is impressive, the location and how to reach it do not make it a lot of fun. Having said that it's close to the Cascade Complex. So, one could try it.
