Was recommended by a friend to visit the tunnel.
On a hot day it is a cool retreat with lighting through about half of the tunnel.
There is a lot of graffiti and not all good and lots of rubbish.
Like any alley way there is the arid smell of urine also.
If you look closely as your walking you will see that the tunnel walls have bowed and as we walked we hoped it was not the day for it to collapse.
There is a lovely hotel at the end for a drink or something to eat and a park that Yerevan has forgotten about.
We walked up over the hill to return to town not back through the tunnel.

This tunnel is a useful pedestrian access point, and also a rather interesting Soviet-era attraction in its own right. At the far northwest end of Misak Manushyan Park, between Aram St and Pavstos Buzand St, beginning just under the Main Post Office, is a long underground pedestrian tunnel running all the way to Dzorapi St and the Hrazdan River. The tunnel is about 460 meters (1500 ft) long and is very well-illuminated, although does suffer from a tremendous amount of graffiti. It is dug hundreds of feet directly underneath St. Hovhannes Church and under Martiros Saryan St and Paronyan St. The tunnel slopes slightly downward, perhaps at a 2 to 3 degree angle in the direction of the river.
On the east end of the tunnel is the Misak Manushyan Park, which is an old Soviet-era park with dilapidated fountains and crumbling sidewalks. On the west end of the tunnel is the Hrazdan Gorge, the Yerevan Children's Railway (recently refurbished in 2012), a small amusement park, and an old hydroelectric dam on the river.
I tried hard to find a more detailed history of the Mashtots-Hrazdan Pedestrian Tunnel, but I could not find any reliable information on this Soviet-era public works project. There are actually two tunnels running parallel, however the second tunnel has been permanently closed.
The tunnel is a tourist attraction in its own right -- a history and reminder of an older Soviet-era Yerevan.

This tunnel is super cool and you can get some great photos in it!
At first it might seems to be scary or quite strange but definitely a super cool place to visit!
Children and their parents were crossing this tunnel as it leads to a children park.
Soviet Architecture enthusiasts will love this tunnel.

During the Soviet time 2 parallel tunnels were built to connect the Kids amusement park in Hrazdan gorge to city downtown. The tunnel served for buses to take kids from Mashtots street to the amusement park and back. One of the tunnels was closed permanently after operating ffor couple of years. The other one was restored and still serving as a pedestrian walkway. From time to time kids buses still use the tunnel, although the entrance is generally closed for cars. Between the tunnel exit and Mashtots street there is a half-constructed and abandoned from Soviet times park, which is going to be the place for "Old Yerevan" project.

This tunnel is of no value from the point of view of transportation. It is interesting to visit as an experiment of architecture. I walked along it. Usually such shady places are inhabited by weird people, but this one was empty.

It's cool. I won't lie, it is pretty cool. Lots of graffitti but it's dirty and there's no real reason to go there unless you're walking to the Hotel Hrazdan or to the river or whatever else you may be doing down there. DOn't go there at night either it's dangerous.

Great place to walk when it’s hot because in tunnel it’s kind of cold

don't miss this!! I have been to Yerevan 5 times and just now I know about this - not sure why! but anyways don't miss it - its safe as I walked through on my own as well, but take your time looking at the graffiti and experiencing the eeriness of this place

Weird place and difficult to understand why it was build. A little scary but not so much if you go in daytime

Lots of litter. Very dirty. Most of the graffiti art is spoiled. Poorly lit in places. No need to go unless you want to reach Dzorapi Street and Hrazdan Gorge.
