Everyone must visit this museum if they are visiting Yerevan. The atrocities that Armenians have tolerated and faced over the centuries. It’s as important to visit and learn in this museum as it is visiting the concentration camps in Europe. This is where it all started and how the world stayed silent. It’s extremely upsetting and sad. But we must tell the story and never forget.

    Must be on your list
Do plan a visit to this place. The museum depicts the atrocities the country endured. If you move at your pace, it can take more than 2 hours. Carry water or a snack pack as there is nothing close by for a quick bite.

The Armenian Genocide Museum is ipso facto not a "pleasant" visit. It is a powerful, sobering experience to see the horrors that were inflicted on a whole population. Especially the photos of children will haunt you forever. It is scary to see how quickly this thin layer of civilization can get eroded under the right circumstances.
I found the museum a little confusing because there are so many events : I think it is critical to read some history books before arriving and it certainly helps to have a guide with you.

I was on A Gate 1 Travel Discovery tour (max. 22 guests). This was a fabulous trip in every way. Our tour guide was more than excellent. The hotels were great. The food that was included was very good. Armenia has an extensive history--some of it very sad. It is an extremely interesting country to visit.

Gives you a really good insight into the genocide and what the people had to go through. We had free entrance with Yerevan card but think it was free already.

It has two parts: the monument, and the museum.
The Monument is glorious. As you walk closer, you see the more splendorous structures. Located at the top of a hill, which shows you the whole of Yerevan with a 360-degree view, the monument makes you stare at it and admire its beauty. Mysterious music is played all around, making the experience perfect.
The museum is so informative about the Genocide occurred to Armenian folks. Based upon historical references, it leaves no room for denial of the Genocide and the sorrow imposed on the Armenian people.

The Armenian Genocide Museum in Yerevan left me profoundly moved and enlightened. The exhibits artfully depicted the tragic events of the past, honoring the memory of those who suffered. This poignant experience not only shed light on the Armenian Genocide but also deepened my appreciation for their resilience and rich cultural heritage. As a travel blogger, I felt compelled to share this significant historical site on my website, Travelhackx.com. It's essential for travelers to understand the profound impact of such places and honor the stories of the past. A visit to this museum is a somber yet crucial reminder of the importance of remembrance and unity in our global journey.

I visited it on my last day in Yerevan. Entrance to the Museum and related attractions is FREE.

Outside: Tall Granite Panels forming a Monument. At the middle of the panels is a burning light. Tall pencil-like obelisk near these panels. Evergreen plants provided by various donors. Beautiful views of Yerevan below.

Museum: Chronological display of exhibits that have numbers, starting with number 1. Exhibits are composed of pictures, certificates, etc plus explantions about them. Explanations are in Armenian and English.

Tips: Take your time reading the explanations to better understanding of the exhibits. Ride a taxi to this attraction as it is located outside the city center ( cost me 800 AMD one way). Take pictures of the exhibits if you so desire. Note that it has FREE, clean, modern toilets inside the museum.

Overseas Adventure Travel to Georgia and Armenia May 2023

If you love travelling on a bus for long periods of time, then this is the trip for you! We were on a bus 11 hours one day and 9 hours on another day! No excursions. We bumped into a goup in Georgia with Gate One and they had more options planned and less time on the bus. As I mentioned in my review BEFORE I took the trip, the itinerary was changed and we were not given any options since we were notified within the 90 day cancellation period.
Azerbaijan was woderful but I would not receommend this trip unless signifiant changes are made to the itinerary, including adding back flying from Georgia to Armenia.

OAT has alerts when you sign up for a trip on the degree of difficulty. Participants had to be able to walk at least 3 miles a day for this trip. We had several persons that could barely walk a mile and also brought portable tripod seats that they used in museums and other excursions since they could not stand up for long. These need to be added to your disablilty list! They impacted the total pace of the trip and our trip leader who has potential and could be great, but was new, modified the intineray to suit these guests.
It was very frustrating, I am looking at other options as several of my companions were frustrated as well and shared other companies they had travelled with.

It’s misleading, it close at 4:30 pm not 5 pm, frustrated by TripAdvisor, it can’t make such a mistake!
4:30分关门而不是5点,猫途鹰烦这样的错误是不能接受的,太容易误导人了,导致白忙一趟,错过了这个地方。这是不对的!紫薯布丁。
