July 2021 - Unfortunately it was closed even though the notice on the entrance stated open from 10am to 6pm - went 3 times on 3 different days of the week and still closed.
luckily they do have some amazing historic details outside just at the entrance - that gives a peak to the history and very well detailed with relevant statues etc., (almost all were copies)

Disclaimer: My disappointment with the visit was based on the reconstruction/reorganization of the vast majority of the exhibitions. The entire exhibition area will hopefully be available to visitors in the foreseeable future.
My initial experience with the museum was very positive. The halls covering the ancient and prehistoric region is well-organized with various artifacts placed to give you a good insight into the culture, politics, etc. of the periods they are from. There are also plenty of information to be found scattered around the exhibition halls giving you great insight into the period you are now looking at, some of its major events/players and also into the location and excavation of the works.
Overall, much of this is just the same ancient artifacts you have probably seen elsewhere in the Mediterranean/Middle Eastern museums covering these historical periods. Nonetheless, there were a few fairly unique sights that did pique my interest.
It was therefore to my great displeasure when I found out that all exhibitions that date past ca. year 0 AD. were closed to visitors, as they were working on them.
I am much more interested in modern history and that is what I had gone to the museum for. So this was a big deal for me.
They had not displayed any information in the entrance hall regarding the closure of 50%+ of the museum, nor did anyone at the information desk inform me that I was buying a ticket to a museum that was only half open. And on top of that, they still charge full price.
I find this quite outrageous and an affront to the paying visitors.
I can therefore only give this place a negative review.
And even though my bad review may be very fixed in time as they should hopefully open up everything at some point, it will still serve an example of the bad customer service that you will experience there.

I do not recommend visiting. Terrible. Nothing is clear, everything is written in Armenian and English, not a single American was observed during the entire stay there. Of course, I wanted to find out something interesting, but I couldn’t. I wasted my money and time.

The Armwnia history is fascinating. A millenial culture in the cross roads of civilization even before history, just north of the Persian Empire and West of the Bizantine Roman Empire, the Armenian nation has probed to be a resilient, strong culture. Bringing Christianity before the Roman Empire, creating their own alphabet and language and thriving through history.
This Museum is a most go if you happek to be in Yerevan, right in Republik Square, in the heart of Herevan.

This was the worst place during the entire trip to Armenia, the whole family came in the hope of learning more about the history of Armenia, the homeland of my wife (she is Armenian), but everything was in English or Armenian. We still don’t understand who was bothered by the Russian inscriptions and descriptions. There are no Russian guides. There was no desire to walk around the museum without understanding anything, so we left. In general, there will be no way for residents of the CIS (

Then the museum is interesting in a global way, beautiful pieces. For Belgians, Germans and French, our museums on the Gallo-Roman era contain just as many pieces so it may seem redundant. On the other hand, you will find rooms of the fortresses-monasteries you may have visited.
The staff is undrinkable and freezing. I think it's a global concept to review.

I expected this to be a boring trip for the kids but we spent a few hours and left with half unseen. I suggest you get a guide. We didn't and I felt that we missed a lot. Next time we will. Some of the employees are very helpful, others are falling asleep in their seats but that's something I have seen in many museums.

Only a couple of halls are open which is disappointing, but at least it’s half-price - 1000 drams- for that reason. (Unlike the national gallery which is full price despite the same issue!) I didn’t find the adoration exhibit all that interesting but some artifacts on the history of Artashat appealed to me. Wifi in the museum, photos allowed.

A RUDE and LAZY senior-aged female staff works in here! She asked my ticket then I showed it to her, no reason she started to say: go down with her finger pointings! What A Savage!
Perhaps she’s hurry up to back home around 5:42pm! What an excellent working attitude in Armenia! That’s your National Museum, well done!

Great museum, especially the section dedicated to the Bronze Age. So comprehensive!
There were a few times that I was confused with the order of the exhibitions -this may have just been me walking the wrong way through the exhibits...
The only let down was the section on the Soviet Occupation-there was no English language information in that one section.
Otherwise-this museum is really interesting.

Добрый день. В Ереване есть отдельный музей, где собраны материалы - свидетели геноцида Армянского народа. Музей находится в парке рядом с мемориалом. Стоит посвятить день.
