Take a boat to this island and have lunch. It is a working fishing village. Nothing commercial about this place at all. Lunch on harbour front was amazing and a highlight of my journey in Vietnam.

Take a ferry over to the island. The village is lovely but the isolated beaches on the opposite shore are secluded and welcoming. REnt a recliner, have a massage, eat, drink, swim, rent a personal water craft, learn to water ski.

We headed to this small island to go to the aquarium. Online it said it was still going, but we found out quickly that it was shut down and had been for quite some time. Walking around this small village was neat, but the amount of garbage that is/was floating in the water was more than a little disappointing. It looks as though you can walk on it with how much trash is floating on it. We watched quite a few people throw out what was in their hands into the water before getting in the water taxi. There is supposed to be a really nice beach in the opposite side of the village. We never made it there as there wasn’t a trail/road to it, and we didn’t have a private water taxi.

First of all, we didn't know what went wrong.
We arrived at the pier Cau Da and the private boats owners came to us like ants to candies. We said no of course and asked the locals to HON MIEU island. Paid like 4 times more expensive than the locals, got on the public boat. However, we couldnt find anything interesting nor the aquarium. We later ran into a guy who speaks good English and were told there is no beach on the island ,it's just a fishing village. We took the boat back. End of our adventure on the island. Question is, where were we? The mystery remains in Nha Trang.

If you stay in Nha Trang, book a small boattrip to the snorkling places. We travelled a lot in SE asia, but this was one of the better spots

Mini Beach on Mieu Island is a very nice private beach. There is an admission fee and chair rental (our guide paid for that) as well as $1.50 for towel rental,$1 for a shower. The beach is soft sand and clean and there is a good restaurant. Order your food about 1/2 hour before you want to eat as everything is cooked to order. If you have the seafood salad, ask fro dressing on the side or ask for lemon. They offer massage and manicure services too. With lunch and various fees and rentals, it is easy to spend $30 - $40 per person for the day.

Right first things first, DO NOT get ripped off , the ferry leaving about every half hour from the main ferry terminal has an official fare that is 5000 dong one way ( you pay on board once under way) IF anyone attempts to charge more TAKE. A PHOTO of them and threaten to report them , worked for me!) the ferry has TRI NGUYEN on its board obvious when you see them. Apart from the aquarium which will cost you 90,000 dong per person to enter , the island is totally none tourist apart from the seafood restaurants on the opposite side to ferry landing ( they have their own landings are extremely expensive and not good value) best food and cheapest is the locals street food . I went twice in the last week first time was charged 20000 dong each way on the ferry (second time I was ready, see earlier!)
I visited to experience local non tourist life and was well rewarded a cheap day out!

Very nice place to spend few hours to get a glimpse as to how locals living.
Was offered too a privet boat for a 300,000 and refused it.
Went down towards the water and hoped on one of the local wooden boats for just 20,000 each way (it's a very short boat ride and they have life jackets which you must wear ) .you can recognize them as people going on and off them quite frequently. i Spent the day wandering around meeting some nice local people and pretty much communicated with signs as no one speaks English :) had some funky food which a day after i'm still in good health ;) a fun day out. Too bad there are no guest houses i would chill there for a night or two. But maybe if there was one it wouldn't be so authentic. .

Good area for taking a tour. We took a small boat trip to get here from Nha Trang and spent a wonderful day in a mini beach on site. Don’t expect anything marvelous, beside the beautiful view and the rocks and food stalls, there’s nothing else.
