    Fascinating building
Stunning building, with nice gardens and interesting statues surrounding. From the bottom of the pagoda there is a good view of the Perfume River below and the steps to be climbed to reach the pagoda. We’ll worth the effort!

    Locked Pagoda
The Pagoda is iconic. It is a "must see". Nice view of the Perfume River. The most interesting thing for me here is the car used for the suicide. Sad but he is remembered. If you just walk through quickly, you will actually missed "Thien Mu". She is the deity that this Pagoda is named after. She is sitting on the second floor of the entrance facing inwards, so you need to look back to see her. She is wearing her trademark red and green dress.

    Spiritual Ambiance
The tranquil setting and intricate details of the pagoda are a sight to behold. It is a wonderful setting to experience the spiritual ambiance of the pagoda. The seven-storey tower is the tallest religious structure in the country, and its beauty is unparalleled. Inside, visitors can admire the intricate carvings and statues that adorn the walls. The gardens are also a sight to behold, with lush greenery and a tranquil atmosphere. The views of the river from the pagoda are breathtaking, and the whole experience is truly unforgettable.

    Beautiful
A really stunning Pagoda with a great view of the Perfume River. Interestingly, 40 monks still live on the property. It was sad to see the car that the monk used to drive to Saigon to set himself alight in protest about the Americans not acknowledging the bhudists in Vietnam during the war. Definitely worth a visit!

    Beautiful Pagoda and Grounds
This is a cool place to check out while in Hue, and a quick Grab ride from the Citadel. There is the Pagoda, but many other things to check out on the grounds including a really pretty pond and various statues and buildings. Also, the view of the Perfume River from this location is very nice. To me, the side trip was worth the time.

A monk drove from here to protest the war
This is a must visit in Hue not only for the beautiful pagoda standing by the river but also the point where a monk started his drive from here to protest against the Vietnam war. It was so heartbreaking to see the blue American car he drove but conveys very heavy message that the peace is precious. This place became one of the highlights of my trip. Each stair to the pagoda is huge, you need to step up with energy. The scenery is great to see the river and boats passing by.

    Captivating atmosphere amidst picturesque scenery
As we approached Thien Mu Pagoda, nestled on the banks of the Perfume River, an air of tranquility enveloped us. The pagoda's elegant architecture, blending seamlessly with the lush surroundings, created a captivating atmosphere that left us in awe. Upon entering the grounds, we were greeted by the iconic Phuoc Duyen Tower, its seven tiers reaching towards the sky, adorned with intricate carvings and Buddha statues. The tower's reflection shimmered in the nearby lotus ponds, adding to the serene ambiance. We strolled through the meticulously manicured gardens, admiring the vibrant bonsai trees and fragrant flowers that lined the pathways. The gentle breeze carried the soothing sounds of wind chimes, further enhancing the peaceful atmosphere.

This is an unusual sight with an interesting history. The pagoda itself is beautiful and it's location above the perfume river gives an air of tranquility. There is much else in the site with gardens and artefacts which reflect the peacefully buddhist ethos. Having spent my childhood a couple of miles from the huge Austin car plant in south Birmingham, I was not expecting to see an old Austin car on display here. This relates to the persecution of Buddhists in the 1960s when a Buddhist leader drove the car to Saigon, got out, sat down in the lotus position in the middle of the road and burnt himself to death as a protest. Herbert Austin, founder of the Austin motor company himself is buried at the Church where I used to sing in the choir. One of the amazing things about travel is the connections you discover in the most unlikely places.

Spectacular sights! We hit it at the end of the day so got to see the pagodas lit up. Lots of stairs but we loved the exercise.

We took a boat from Hue up the perfume river to this Pagoda. It was lovely being on the water. The pagoda is situated on a hill by the river and is very scenic. The pagoda and the site are really very pretty. Worth a stop for sure

Best accessed via a boat trip along the Perfume River, Thien Mu Pagoda is an iconic piece of architecture set with beautiful grounds complete with its own working temple. I would highky recommend visiting as part of a river cruise and also seeing some of the wonderful emperors tombs too.

This Pagoda is set on a picturesque place, just by the Perfume river. Supposedly, it is the oldest and tallest one in all Vietnam, dating back to 1601.
Behind is a nice Buddhist Temple with gardens, but my attention draw a displayed car.
This car was used by high rank Temple monk who drove himself to Saigon center, get off the car on the main square sitting in Lotus position, and burned himself to death in protest against Dinh Diem puppet regime in terms of Buddhist and religion discrimination.
You need up to an hour for your visit.

We got to the pagoda towards the end of our guided tour of Hue, so were particularly grateful for the shade and relative coolness and short duration. Interesting insight into monastic life (not sure I would respond well to 3am wake up call for meditation).

A quiet and famous place in Hue right next to the Perfume River.
Many tourists come and the special thing is that the scenery is extremely wonderful.
