Located within 3mins of walk from our hotel, this huge moat surrounded statue on a pedestal at the coastal boulevard depicting a legendary 13th-century Tran Hung Dao, grand commander of Thang Long during the Tran Dynasty.

It was a sunny and warm day and we came by here for a photostop. We saw workers watering the beautiful plants and flowers at the park, clearing the weeds. It looked nice from a closer distance.

However, there was no shelter/washroom here. And just opposite the busy road is the waterbus (cruise) station. And traffic here were peak all day round and you do need some "courage" to be able to cross the roads. Although there were traffic lights, no one seemed to bother about it and so it's of no use at all!

Will not recommend this place for a visit that you must definitely come unless you happen to pass by here (or like us, staying very nearby), you can skip it with no loss to your trip to HCMC!

I agree with one of the previous reviewers. This is a statue in a small but well-kept garden. Clean. Some nice flowers when I was there. Located in like a roundabout on a very busy road. I saw it and walked through the garden enroute to the Saigon WaterBus Station just outside the Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon. Definitely not worth making a special trip unless you have an interest. Stop by if you are passing through the area. You need maybe 5 minutes.

The most interesting about this statue is that just now I saw the name again, found the information and learned about the man in the Internet. Yes, he was a great figure for Vietnam.
As for the aesthetics of the statue, it points on a foreign tourist, who is frustrated and has no idea how to cross the street. Its glance is not encouraging, but condemning.

An interesting statue in a well kept garden area. It’s not a must see, unless you have a particular interest in it. It’s worth checking out if you are passing by, like we did.

Large statue on a roundabout next to the river set in nice, well-kept gardens. As always in Vietnam, crossing the road is a bit of a daunting prospect, especially as it’s a roundabout and traffic is coming from all different directions at you.

Once you’re safely across, you’re greeted with a well-kept green space and the Tran Hung Dao Statue set at the edge of a pond with a fountain. Although the fountain wasn’t on during my visit.

The area itself is nice and only a short walk across the road to the Harbour Garden which is the footpath next to the river.

During our visits to new destinations we have become lovers of all things statues/sculptures/monuments as they can tell you so much about the place and its history. This proud monument is dedicated to a great leader who is famous for repelling mongol invasions during the rein of Kublai Khan, in our books that is pretty impressive. Probably not regarded as a stand alone attraction, however, worth incorporating a visit during a walk.

Nice monument dedicated to a famous Vietnamese 13th-century military leader. He lived from 1228 to 1300 and was also known as Grand Prince Hưng Đạo. The monument can be a challenge getting to it, as this is surrounded by one of the busiest turnabouts in the city.

It's just a statue that you can see while crossing this area in a car/bike or while enjoying breeze and Saigon river. The river front was so beautiful that i almost missed seeing the statue.

If you happen to find yourself at this intersection then it wont be hard to spot this venerable statue. How on earth you actually navigate the multiple traffic choked streets to get close up to it is beyond me, I was not brave enough!

This location is not worth a special visit but if you are in the vicinity check it out. The area it is located on is sadly not well kept, seems to have been neglected and not like it was during my visit to HCMC in 2014 when the pool was filled and a water fountain which lit up at night was working. It is however a significant bronze statue overlooking the park near the Saigon River amongst tall modern buildings. Sadly another monument in a park that is not well cared for.
