The museum building was gorgeous but as with other museums in HCMC the exhibits need to be displayed in a more coherent manner. When we bought tickets we had to ask for maps for the museum. Still, I think it's worth a look around. The mummy which was found in Saigon was an interesting surprise.

Lots of art and history. Right size not too big. No need to have a guide since the museum provides enough information. Was empty when we went.

Vietnamese history from pre-historic times to basically the communist revolution, though the parts about the French colonization were not very forthcoming. Excellently ordered, with separate rooms for each period, brief history and interesting objects. Cheap entrance fee. Would not recommend the museum café!

Starting with prehistoric times, this museum takes you on a journey thru several centuries. Well signed, easy to follow, comprehensive exhibits, well maintained, a great history lesson in just a couple of hours. If you like museums, make sure you see this one. You'll love it.

This is a nice museum that concentrates on Ancient Asian artwork. I'm mad at myself for not paying the 40,000 dong to take pictures. If you visit be sure to see the Confucian temple or the Zoo next door.

Has many interesting items from Vietnam history plus going right back to fossils and evolution. There are clothes, ceramics, rock and timber carvings, a mummy, fossils etc. there was written records of years and timelines to read through. We walked through ourselves but tour could be arranged. We took about 90 minutes but could take much more time if you... More

A good museum with some very good exhibits. If you have an interest in Vietnamese history this is a good place to visit. It is also located next to the Saigon Zoo.

Tired of the war stories of Vietnam? Go here and get a peek into the rich old heritage and the culture. Also don't miss the water puppet shows we missed them. Far cheaper than outside, 2 shows am and 2 pm.

I didn't expect to see much - we were on our way to the zoo, and the museum was next to it. Nice layout, much more extensive than I was expecting. Mostly Vietnamese visitors, who were very friendly, often initiating greetings.

Well set out series of rooms with items from different periods of vietnamese history, the building itself is quite impressive too. There are shops and a cafe inside as well as a courtyard area. I would recommend giving this place a visit.
