The square in front of the Notre Dame Cathedral is a pleasant spot from which to view the cathedral (unfortunately, currently shrouded in scaffolding for renovation). The square has lots of flowers and a statue of the Virgin Mary. Can be hot as there are few shade trees in the square.

Along this square, two buildings attract attention: Notre Dame Cathedral and the Post Office.
In the travel guides you will find the most extensive descriptions of this basilica-like Notre Dame or Nha Tho Duc Ba. The largest ever built in French-colonized Indochina. All materials for construction came from France, tallest building in the city in 1880, etc.
The church is under restoration. Located completely in the racks, covered with gray cloths. We can only photograph the statue of the Virgin Mary that was transferred from Rome to Vietnam in 1959 and given the name Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Peace, in the hope that she would bring peace to Vietnam.
We will have to miss the view recommended by the travel guides from the bell tower, which is open on Sundays.
The Main Post Office or Buu Dien Trung Tam, designed by Gustave Eiffel, is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the city.
It was designed by the French architect between 1886 and 1891. The elongated facade bears the names of philosophers and scientists. Inside, the building is more reminiscent of a train station. Although still in use as a post office, one gets the impression of entering a market building.

We watched the sunset here while enjoying Vietnamese coffee from a nearby café. The cathedral's architecture transported us to old-world Saigon, and the bustling square created such a lively atmosphere. A perfect spot for couples seeking that classic Saigon experience.

we were walking to the post office and saw this square. it looked beautiful with the statue and flowers so we took a family photo here. the cathedral was renovating so it was fully covered from one side. however, the flowers around the idol are stunning. it was a pretty square if it wasn't raining we would have spent a little more time near the flowers.

Located infront of the Notre Dame Cathedral, it was teeming with people posing for pictures here. It is near the Post Office Building so visit it as well.

The Cathedral was open during my visit. Attended the 2024 Easter Sumday Mass there.

The cathedral is still under reconstruction. But without the Cathedral, there are many interesting things in the square. The former town centre square. A masterpiece post office is worth something! The statue of the Virgin Mary is fitting. It's not just a symbol. Go to her, look at her. Like a living one! Lots of restaurants, lots of shade and benches.

This square is part of any itinerary to visit the city. On one side the magnificent Post Office building, on the other the Notre Dame Cathedral.
At the moment, nothing can be seen of the cathedral as it is under construction surrounded by scaffolding and siding. It is not known when the rehabilitation will be ready.
Anyway, the square is interesting.Nothing special

During the evenings the square and side walks around come alive with locals gathering and spending time together. Vendors provide plastic or paper sheets on which one can sit and enjoy your own food and drinks or buy from the few local vendors. Mostly finger snacks and soft drinks, fruit juices. Excellent ambience.
Mother Mary's statue is in the square in front of the church. A pleasant way to spend late evenings.

What a joy to be able to hear mass in overseas Catholic Churches!
Celebrating mass with other nationalities is always an enriching experience.

This Cathedral Basilica is dedicated to Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception.
Established in the 19th century by French colonists, it is very much alive in celebrating and spreading the Word of God today in Ho Chi Minh.

From the outside, the architecture is inspiring, so beautiful in intricate Romanesque style, accentuated by red bricks on its facade. However, the design inside is equally majestic with its high ceiling and dozens of arches surrounding the main church, in addition to stained glass windows.

The plaza in front of the cathedral is frequented by tourists, both local and foreign. It has the statue of The Virgin Mary.

Our last day in Vietnam was spent attending mass in this cathedral and it made our trip so much more enriching and meaningful. Truly a memorable visit to Vietnam.

Not the best time to visit as both sides are blocked by scaffolding and it didn’t look ‘as it should’. I’m sure it will be great once renovated, but now it’s not worth a visit. Access inside was also denied due to the renovations.
