Coolest Pagoda in Sai Gon

This is the one to go to - very extensive, lots of history, and a great layout - you can wander around and enjoy soo much!

When I walked inside the pagoda, there were a spiritual atmosphere that told me about the age of the pagoda. I was impressive by the roofs of the buildings as well as all the pillars, doors,... inside the buildings.

Had read about this Pagoda...was fascinated to know it was the oldest Pagoda, built in 1744...and the story surrounding it...but going to see it was difficult, an uncomfortable experience...traffic is congested...you can miss it as there are no signs...locals have no idea and if you don't have someone speaking Vietnamese it is an impossible task. A TEMPLE (Giac-Lam-Pagoda) was constructed in the Spring ,1744, at GIA-DIN, then a small settlement, which grew as SAIGON, and now called HO-CHI-MINH city. Best reached by taxi, this pagoda has peaceful grounds and gardens. Prayers are held daily from 4am to 5am, 11am to noon, 4pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm. it houses a collection of more than 150 wooden buddha statue. at the back is a big statue of the buddha. a little far from the city, this is a very peaceful place.

This is one of the oldest pagodas in HCMC. I went with my son and his partner. Prayers were in process so we had the opportunity to listen to the chanting and prayers which were beautiful.
