We are not backpackers but it’s still worth a visit just to feel the vibe. Many people say be careful and be aware but we didn’t have any trouble. There’s nothing unique here it’s just alive with people. If you like that then it's the place for you.

Worth a walk down just to check out the vibe, but glad we didn't stay here, as I wouldn't have got a wink's sleep. Good for bars, music and people watching.

The street is "alive" with musics, people, foods and buskers. Some small pubs owner just too arrogant we were chased off when we requested to sit outside instead of the inner seats. Streets food was awesome & reasonable priced. Very pushy souvenirs seller there approach you while you're eating or drinking. Other than that, it's a great place for hang... More

The street is famous for foreigners' activities. Everything is served in English or by foreign currency. There are also cheaper accommodations provided in the area. Moreover, there are a lot of travel agencies for you to choose a tour throughout Vietnam. However, the street is overcrowded most of the times with vendors merchants or street food sellers.

I should have checked out the address of my hostel before coming. So this is the infamous backpacker alley. Nothing happened to me, even the locals are very nice to me, but then they tell me I look like vn. The hostel was perfectly clean and comfortable, filled with of course tourists. The lanes are dirty and the locals spit... More

Pham Ngu Lao Street reminds us to Khao San road of Thailand. The center of city tour and transportation. This is the best place to plan how to spend money in Vietnam. There are convenient stores, fusion foods, local foods and night life. If you love being quiet, please avoid to spend the night here.

This is a great area for you to get a hotel in. Not only are you a block away from Bui Vien Street (backpacker street), but you are in a main area where it's not too loud or chaotic as Ben Thanh market area (which is walking distance away). This place is close to a lot of foods, and sometimes... More

You must never hesitate in crossing the road--keep the same pace. It is truly amazing to see all the scooters, motorcycles and cars juggling on the road. Chaotic comes to mind but interestingly there are no signs of road rage, no dents in the cars, only polite horns honking.
