This was my first visit ti HCMC, so we went to see this cultural event. Saw another one in the park in Hanoi which was way nicer (and free). So, if you haven't seen such before maybe you should go, otherwise definitely skip it.

The water puppet show was quite entertaining eventhough it was entirely in Vietnamese. U can get the gist of what they were trying to portray without difficulty. Most parts were funny and entire audience were laughing. The traditional music played on traditional Vietnamese instruments was very captivating. If you're looking for culture, this could be your platform in Saigon. And... More

The water puppet show is an interesting experience, particularly since a ticket is only $8. It's not designed specifically for tourists, and lots of locals do go to the show. The narration is entirely in Vietnamese, but you can basically follow the story lines. The music is all performed live, which was very cool. Not one of my favorite things... More

Tourist guide highly recommended this show and it was full house when we came. Probably there are many similar Chinese shows I saw before that this one seems not really special to me. To certain extent, I felt boring/sleepy in the middle of this 45-minute show because every sessions looked similar (or even the same) along the show, similar puppets,... More

Fun introduction to Vietnam culture, stories and music. Show is about 45 mins long and we did it in conjunction with a river dinner. A nice evening. If you sit in front row of theatre you may get splashed!

Worth seeing if you never saw water puppets before, sort of a wet version of Punch & Judy, with lots of action that is easy to follow. Particularly fun for children but as a lover of theater, I enjoyed it immensely.

Im really glad I went to see the puppet show as it felt like an education about the Vietnamese culture even without understanding- the colors, music, tones, movements and the fact that it has a long history made it worthwhile.
