We went as part of our private tour to Vietnam. We arrived not knowing what to expect from the Lang Toi - My Village show. We were happily surprised by the various acts - dancing, acrobatics, singing and more. It was informative of the village life in Vietnam.

We happened upon this show and were really glad that we went. It helped us understand some of the fables and cultural aspects of Vietnam. It was funny at times and interesting. Not the best stage show you will ever see 5 short stories but definately worth an hour of your life.

I was concerned that it will be touristy and was proven wrong...The show is delightful, playful and well choregraphed. The acrobatic ability of the players is impressive. Highly recommend while in town.

I visited the theatre to watch an hour-long performance of Tuong, which has a lot of similarities in terms of style and costume with Chinese opera. Note that the stage was set up on ground level, in front of the entrance foyer, with limited seating for about 20 or so people. Some things detracted from my enjoyment, such as the English subtitling (which was often out of time with the spoken dialogue, or were confusing as to which line were spoken by which character), and the noise and light from passing car traffic.

But I still enjoyed watching the performance, which showed excerpts from popular operas, and the actors and musicians were highly skilled, and very funny where the script called for it. Music is live (although I'm not sure a modern drum kit was part of the traditional musical score). Given the cheap price of admission, I was happy enough to put up with distractions.

I’m a theatre person and enjoy surprises and aesthetics more than realism. If you’re like me, you’ll love this! Theatre is a mirror of humanity and our desires, intentions and behaviours are universal.
I understand that the actors and musicians are tired after the performance and are likely on tight scheduled but, I wish I’d have had a chance to exchange words with them following the show.
Great actors and musicians! A strong similarity to commedia dell’arte (western traditional comedy). Inhale a little Vietnamese culture - it will do you good!
If you like art & culture (you should!) don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about the people.

My Village was a beautiful piece of theatre, the acrobatics was of course great to watch but I really enjoyed the beauty and artistry of how the performers used the bamboo on stage to create new scenes as well as creating lovely sound effects. I opted for a cheaper ticket and had a seat to the side of the stage, I'd say I only missed a marginal amount but if I were to go back, I'd opt for a more central seat.

An absolutely flawless, brilliant display of precise physical agility and athletic stamina. We were blown away by the performance. It was very beautiful and comical at times. They made Olympic gold medal gymnastic moves look like child’s play and easy! BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would highly recommend the Water Puppet Show. Very professionally done. Buy advance tickets as I was told that the evening shows do tend to sell out, which was certainly the case for our show.
