A half hour walk from the Old Quarter gets you to a peaceful area with floating restaurants, a gorgeous pagoda, and lovely gardens.

We visited the West Lake on a couple of occasions and enjoyed our time visiting coffee shops, restaurants and pagodas. This is a well used area that is very popular and well maintained. It is out of the price range of the average locals to...More

I visit this area for work and I am not sure I would recommend it specifically as a tourist visit. The lake is massive but not especially photogenic. It is a popular area for ex pats to live but does not attract many day visitors.

It was also a monumental walk out here along busy roads from the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. The temple in the middle is nice, but recommend getting there via taxi.

For me, I prefer to rent a bike or take a cyclo(about 5 USD/ hour) to go around the lake. This season, the weather is good for walking as well. There is a nice flower market near by West Lake I've always loved to visit... More
