Having stayed on the westlake at intercontinental hotel we soon realised we were a good bit away from all the tourist areas....old quarter. We decided to move in to centre of Hanoi. Not really much to do apart from walking round the lake.

While visiting our son and his girlfriend, we visited this area. We had a meal and rode around to an outdoor bar they frequent. Lots of expats and good cold beer!

Don't expect too much from this. I went looking for the lotus flowers and I was clearly in the wrong spot. It's nice and a great place to stay apparently but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there

For me, I prefer to rent a bike or take a cyclo(about 5 USD/ hour) to go around the lake. This season, the weather is good for walking as well. There is a nice flower market near by West Lake I've always loved to visit... More
